To ask if you’d expect more food at this wedding?

We’re getting married next month and starting to have a panic that we aren’t providing enough food. Ceremony is at 2.30, so everyone will be arriving at the reception between 3.30-4 ish. We’re having a bbq starting at around 5pm

Bbq foods are as follows, and each person can have one of every item if they want to
Burgers
Hot dogs
Chicken skewers
Prawn skewers
Veggie/vegan options
Chips
Salad, coleslaw, potato salad etc

We've also got a cheese table with various choices, crackers, pork pies etc and a dessert table with cakes, brownies and donuts which are both coming out at about 8.30pm

Would you then expect another substantial food option with the cheese and snacks table, such as hot food or a buffet or something!? We're expecting the bbq to be done with by around 6.30, but they can keep going as long as we want them to, and the venue closes at 12pm.

Love a cheap tinned tuna baked potato at a wedding, really easy to eat at the edge of the dance floor too.

I think that sounds like a great amount of food. Like PP, I would suggest staggering the dessert and cheese tables.

I've read more of your posts and it all sounds great, much better than the BBQ wedding we went to where we got a small cremated beefburger (elfandsafety apparently!), then later a tiny portion of fish and chips, then sit-down afternoon tea. All very strange!
I'd be tempted to organise some pizza later though. If the caterers have pizza ovens they can make it very quickly so you can make it on demand, so less is wasted.

Oh I can't be doing with this new trends. Give me a turkey and ham roast dinner with a melon ball starter and a trio of tiny pavlova, tiny cheesecake and tiny chocolate slice with a cup of tea and a lump of fruit cake after any day. Preferably followed by a long table full of egg sandwiches, chicken goujons and cocktail sausages at 9pm (roughly 1 hour after the dinner ends thanks to the endless long speeches)

Feast day innit

Why are you saying that to the poster suggesting baked potatoes?

I've been to a wedding in a fancy hotel and in the evening, we had baked potatoes with haggis.

Went to another wedding where the reception was in a pub. Sit down pub meal then in the evening, they serve baked potatoes and rolls and sausage etc.

Baked potatoes are a common thing in the evening at weddings.

Presumably people will eat before the ceremony, so I think that sounds fine.

Heaven forbid someone might have the munchies at midnight after an evenings drinking, but that's what McDonalds drive-thru, or a bowl of cereal, is for.

There's always a best mate or gran or uncle happy to run off with extra food. Someone is having those baked potatoes!
