@JocelynBurnell depends on the circumstances. A better paid job doesn't necessarily mean leaving your employer or breaking continuous service.

ShelfyMcShelfface · 20/08/2022 21:20

There is no employment protection in the first two years of a new job. It is not really a sensible move as the economy is grinding to a halt and heading for a recession.

I've just got to the 2 year mark in my job and am staying for this reason. I'm also going to avoid taking any holidays early next year, so that I get redundancy plus hols plus notice if anything happens. I'm going to accept my 3% pay rise, rather than look for a new job purely for this reason.

Absolutely, but tread with care is my advice. Breaking service can cost dearly.

goshy · 20/08/2022 22:31

I haven't disagreed, my point was getting a a new job doesn't mean losing your redundancy rights..

So you're saying get a promotion in the same company to both earn more and prevent the loss of redundancy?

goshy · 21/08/2022 09:00

@christmas2022 No I said getting a new job doesn't mean losing redundancy rights.

goshy · 21/08/2022 09:00

@christmas2022 No I said getting a new job doesn't mean losing redundancy rights.

What do you mean by that?

goshy · 21/08/2022 13:27

@christmas2022 I'm not sure what it is you don't understand?

Alexandra2001 · 21/08/2022 21:35

goshy · 21/08/2022 13:27

@christmas2022 I'm not sure what it is you don't understand?

You ve lost me, outside of TUPE transfer or staying within the same company grp, its not possible.

Unless you mean a 2nd job.

christmas2022 · 21/08/2022 21:39

@goshy

I asked

So you're saying get a promotion in the same company to both earn more and prevent the loss of redundancy?

And you answered No.

I sought clarification and you've been vague again in response.

Do you actually know what you are on about?

How do you remain protected from redundancy when starting in a new company if you're not referring to working at the same company?

Absolutely not expecting a straight answer.

goshy · 21/08/2022 21:52

A poster replied to my post about a new job saying that there is no employer protection in the first two years of a new job. I replied saying a "A better paid job doesn't necessarily mean leaving your employer or breaking continuous service"

Just as I expected 👏

goshy · 21/08/2022 22:03

What is it that you expected when I had already replied to a different poster?

You did it before upthread when you jumped on another one of my reply's to a question posed by another poster.

I haven't said anyone should do anything.

goshy · 21/08/2022 22:07

So you're saying get a promotion in the same company to both earn more and prevent the loss of redundancy?

Where have I said anyone should do the above?
I just replied to a different poster saying "it depends on the circumstances. A better paid job doesn't necessarily mean leaving your employer or breaking continuous service". You're conflating different things & have you name changed to @Alexandra2001? 😆

Whyareyouasking · 21/08/2022 22:18

To be fair and I am talking specific industries here. Erm…I’m being underpaid. I am going to move. Ok…20k rise and we will review in April. No resetting of employed, pension or health rights. Always push your worth.

@goshy Don't drag me into your "Lack of knowledge" world pls.

Your posts don't make sense and are inaccurate, thats what i was commenting in.

goshy · 22/08/2022 08:17

@Alexandra2001 you responded to me so how have I dragged you into anything?

What part of A better paid job doesn't necessarily mean leaving your employer or breaking continuous service is untrue or nonsensical?

goshy · 22/08/2022 08:27

And how does stating "A better paid job doesn't necessarily mean leaving your employer or breaking continuous service" somehow mean I'm telling people to get a promotion? It's not the same thing.

AndreaC74 · 22/08/2022 09:52

You accused me/another poster of name changing... like most of what you post, false.

goshy · 22/08/2022 10:11

I asked whether you had name changed as you replied to a question I had directed at another poster & because you hadn't been back to the thread in sometime & because you seem quite angry.

Of course I could be wrong about that but I'm not sure what else I have posted that is false?

goshy · 22/08/2022 10:15

but hang on I accused @Alexandra2001 of name changing & you have replied telling me I was wrong under the user name @AndreaC74?

whoopsie!!

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Cornettoninja · 22/08/2022 10:39

I’d not of noticed that @Goshy - good spot.

I never know where the line is between ok name changing and sock puppeting.

christmas2022 · 22/08/2022 10:59

I can confirm I am neither @Alexandra2001 or @AndreaC74

It may be that they are the same person but that is not me.

Let's all agree to disagree.

1+1=5

Yes?

Correct. Lovely. Enjoy your day.

goshy · 23/08/2022 08:04

@Cornettoninja I didn't at first

goshy · 23/08/2022 08:07

1+1=5

Yes?

Perhaps you need a calculator @christmas2022 because where I'm standing 2+2 = 4 as I was certainly correct about that poster name changing. But yes I had a lovely day & happy to agree to disagree
