Could I be pregnant or have I lost the plot?

So, I’ve been a bit daft. Had a one night stand on July 19th. It was day 24 of my cycle and I was confident I had ovulated much earlier (on my usual day 14) as I’d had the ovuoation discharge then. So we had unprotected sex (I know, I know! I was drunk). Didn’t seem possible to me that I’d get PG from this. I also have endometriosis and both of my aunts who had it never concieved naturally, so I have a complex that I’ll never get pregnant (I feel maybe on a subconscious level that’s why I make stupid sexual decisions, because I don’t want to pass up a chance to get pregnant when my chances are so low).

Period came on cycle day 28, perfectly as expected. And absolutely normal and standard. A bit more painful than usual though (despite my endometriosis my periods are absolutely textbook usually, but there was one day I was in agony. I only have an endometriosis diagnosis because they saw it when I had my appendix out. I don’t get symptoms.). As all seemed fine didn’t think anything of it.

I’m now 2 days off my period. Last night my friend came over for drinks and bought mojito cans which I usually like. I took one sip and it just tasted WRONG. Like dishwater. It wasn’t a complete aversion though, I was still able to force it down as I couldn’t be bothered with the “OMG you must be pregnant!” from my friend.

This morning laying in bed half asleep I was swiftly fully awoken by an electric shock pain in one of my boobs. During my 2 hour lie-in this happened a good few times, in both breasts. When I got up it subsided. This NEVER happens to me. My breasts literally never get sore at any point in my cycle. It’s even weirder that it’s just after my period which is meant to be a calmer time hormonally. My boobs have been feeling heavy all day at work as well, to the point I felt like I was leaning forward from the weight.

I do remember my mum telling me donkeys years ago that her mum had ‘periods’ during her first pregnancy.

I’m wondering if anybody has had a similar experience and been PG or had it be something else, and what was it? I’m reluctant to go to the doctors as I’m currently living in Canada and am worried about costs.

Take a pregnancy test instead of a Covid test. Literally the only way to answer your question right now

PinkButtercups · 03/08/2022 10:23

Why don't you just take a pregnancy test?

raegenholatree · 03/08/2022 10:13

My boobs are agony at the moment. Laying on my front it feels like I’m being stabbed every minute. I’ve had to taken ibuprofen.

WTF!

Also if you were pregnant you're not supposed to take ibuprofen.

10HailMarys · 03/08/2022 10:53

You had unprotected sex so yes, you could be pregnant regardless of where you were in your cycle. Take a test and then you'll know. Nobody here can tell you if you're pregnant or not.

Herejustforthisone · 03/08/2022 11:37

Sorry to be rude but just take a fucking test!!! And I don’t mean another lateral flow. This is exasperating.

Why did you take a Covid test instead of a pregnancy test??

Nothingfree · 03/08/2022 11:44

Test tomorrow as you have said you would. Keep us updated OP.

sarahc336 · 03/08/2022 11:50

Endo sufferer here abd I conceived two children fine, don't assume you won't be able to conceive op xx

Tandora · 03/08/2022 11:57

OP your symptoms are very vague and you are highly unlikely to be pregnant if you just had a normal period (and given the timing of it). You can take a test if you want, but I think you are trying to convince yourself you are preg because of the endo. As a pp said endo doesn’t mean infertility, I know women with it who’ve conceived naturally. ❤️ Also if you are not symptomatic does that mean it’s less severe? Maybe you could go see a fertility consultant if it’s something that is regularly on your mind / worrying you?
Sounds like you could be coming down with a virus- possible the start of Covid. Feel better soon! Xx

Jilliebean · 03/08/2022 11:59

Please take a test and get an early scan because endo increases ectopic pregnancy massively and you want that sorted ASAP so you don't end up losing a tube.
Please don't think I'm trying to scare you but I lost my last baby due to ectopic and it wasn't diagnosed until my first scan.
Keep us updated and I'm hoping you get the outcome you want x

ladydimitrescu · 03/08/2022 12:03

If there's a possibility you could be pregnant, why would you not just take a test rather than ask people if you might be?
You had unprotected sex, so of course you might be.
We can't tell you op, go take a bloody test, not a Covid test - a pregnancy test. I don't understand why you haven't

She's explained that it is 2 hours drive to the nearest place that sells one, and she can't go today as she is working. The rude one is you for not reading all OP's posts before posting yours.

I am living/working in Canada. I have a live in job on a fairly rural mountain resort. I’m off work tomorrow so will be driving 2 hours to the nearest city because whilst we have a tuck shop on the resort, they don’t sell pregnancy tests.

Here again for the idiots at the back.

Yep.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 03/08/2022 12:27

If it's a special journey just for the pregnancy test, can you order online for next day delivery?
More economical than the cost of fuel

ohdannyboy · 03/08/2022 12:41

How would you feel if you were/were not pregnant ? You need to know either way OP

GrandRapids · 03/08/2022 12:45

Well realistically, no I don't think you're pregnant. You had unprotected sex on day 24 and have just had a normal period!

But please do let us know if you are!

WTF!

Don't take any more anti-inflammatories until you have ruled out pregnancy.

Onebigmess · 03/08/2022 12:50

The only way you will know is to take a test tomorrow. I think if you have had a "period" then the chances of being pregnant are low. However any unprotected sex can lead to pregnancy.
With regards to symptoms, it's surprising how the mind can make you perceive symptoms. I get the impression you would like to be pregnant, so subconsciously you are focusing on symptoms.

coastergirl · 03/08/2022 13:02

I conceived my eldest on day 24. Also didn't think it was possible!

AquaticSewingMachine · 03/08/2022 07:55

Also, please take this as a wakeup call not to be so reckless with your sexual health; you're more likely to end up with a dose of the clap than a baby.

Exactly. And using endo and your aunties tales are pretty reckless. The only thing that can confirm is a test. No one can tell you otherwise.

There’s really no drug store anywhere near where the OP lives in Canada? Even the remotest towns tend to have them, they sell everything. If not, order one from Amazon. Even Canada has Amazon prime.

I know I was being rude, as acknowledged in my post, if you’d read it properly.

Just incase. You shouldn't take ibuprofen in pregnancy.

MsBallen · 03/08/2022 16:25

Definitely Amazon prime a test or find somewhere closer than two hours that sell them, you will drive yourself mad otherwise. Also you don't have to make any hasty decisions no matter the results. Good luck I hope the result is whatever you're happiest with :)

Sartre · 03/08/2022 16:30

Take a test. My Mum had ‘periods’ for 4 months when she was pregnant with me but she was on the pill so they were withdrawal bleeds really. The aversion to alcohol may well be covid tbh, lateral flows aren’t always the best. The only way you’ll know is with a test though obviously.
