Not unless there was no other option: they were too little to leave on their own, we had no food/meds/nappies in the house and no way to order from Uber eats or similar, no one to leave them with.
I’ve witnessed plenty of other selfish parenting when it comes to chicken pox though: the parents who took their pox-riddled children round the shop I worked in “because they were bored”, which caused my colleague to catch it and pass it on to her vulnerable toddler in time for him to have a much needed operation postponed.
Then there was the school mum who told me she’d taken her child Christmas shopping a week before Christmas in the nearby busy shopping mall while the kid was covered in them “because why should she miss out?” Without a single thought to other people having to cancel their Christmas plans because someone in their household came down with it too. Fucking dickhead is a nurse as well
