Chin hairs!

As I've gotten older I've acquired some, i pluck them out but two days later they're back! I can have around 10 at one time.
Any permanent/semi permanent solutions for them? Laser?

Yes laser but doesn't work on light or red hair better on dark hair. Expensive but worth it I've heard.
Electrolysis works to but takes longer to see results than laser.

Babdoc · 24/07/2022 22:02

On Mumsnet they are referred to as “hag whiskers”, and there are previous threads about dealing with them.
Some posters said they have hag pacts with friends, so if they are unconscious in hospital, the friend will come in and pluck their chin whiskers for them. Grin

Watching. I have a few and they also seem to ingrow and cause spots 😖

One of mine is white (adding insult to injury) so I think electrolysis is the only route for me. Interested to hear if anyone has tried this for crone hairs.

Clubtropicanadrinksarenotfree · 24/07/2022 22:11

I had to pluck my Grandma's out once, that was fun 😁my hairs are very dark.
I will look at prices!
I don't think they're that visible, it's just the feeling of them .

I just swipe mine off with a razor now. Quick and simple.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 25/07/2022 06:49

Also. I was told by a doctor that they come out curly. So when u think good god how did I not notice that huge long chin hair. It was there before it just decided to un curl on that day.

HoppingPavlova · 25/07/2022 06:55

Are we talking hair or whiskers here? I have a few whiskers that seem to come from the same spot on chin but grow at different rates/cycles so I always have the pleasure. Very thick, course, stubbly and white. Then I have the odd very long (if I don’t catch them early), fine hair more around the upper lip, nostril area, also white.

I just beg a (adult) child to pluck them weekly as I guessed they would be resistant to all forms of ‘beauty’ removal?

Doidontimmm · 25/07/2022 06:57

I bought a Philips lumea which has solved the issue! I get the odd one but easily pluck :)

MyBottomDecides · 25/07/2022 07:02

I tried electrolysis, regular appointments over several months. Ended up with regular round bruises on my chin as though I'd been attacked with a pencil, and no fewer hairs. I don't know whether mine are just particularly determined but plucking seems to be the only route for me!

Oblomov22 · 25/07/2022 07:38

Just started electrolysis again for this very reason. Works really well for me.

alphasox · 25/07/2022 07:38

I’ve had a course of laser treatment on mine and they’re much reduced but still some determined hangers on that I pluck. Plucking is the only way. I’m intrigued to try the lumea, a few people on here have recommended.

minipie · 25/07/2022 09:15

I tried the Lumea on mine but the only thing that happened is one hair turned white (which now means salon laser won’t work on it).

I just swipe mine off with a razor now. Quick and simple.

But surely you'd then be shaving every day as they grow back thicker and faster?

FoxtrotSkarloey · 25/07/2022 09:30

Anyone fair and blonde have any suggestions?

HerkyBaby · 25/07/2022 09:40

I’ve always found a bulldog clip useful in these circumstances.

That’s a misconception.

PiggyPlumPie · 25/07/2022 09:46

Wait until the fuckers turn white! Can't see the buggers to tweeze out!

3peassuit · 25/07/2022 09:53

I use the springy thing. It great for getting the pesky things out.

Electrolysis is the only permanent solution and the only thing that really works on blonde / red / white hair.

Obviously electrolysis is extremely effective. This is what trans women get to remove enormous big black male beards when they transition. If it works for them, your 10 chin hairs have no chance of survival!

It is a commitment though- you have to go every few weeks for about a year to make sure all the hair is caught. And it's expensive. So it just depends how much you hate your chin hairs!

KeyboardWarriorsUnite · 25/07/2022 10:00

I might be alone in enjoying plucking them out. Sometimes with tweezers, sometimes with my fingernails.

I don't have loads, and tbh they seem to be getting fewer - I was told that continued plucking can weaken the root area (she had a proper word for it but I can't remember if) and that can stop the growth. But I'm mildly disappointed by that 😆

minipie · 25/07/2022 10:19

Oh I bloody love tweezing them out. So satisfying and not a major hassle. The only reason I want rid of mine is because they often create a spot before they poke through.

ChinBristles · 25/07/2022 10:21

See my username.
Vaniqua cream from Dr Fox online has 90% solved it.

RockandRollsuicide · 25/07/2022 10:34

@ChinBristles

Wow!! I tried to get this a long time ago and drew to a halt. I'm thrilled to see it can be ordered on line!

Can you tell more about it please. Eg do you just put it on whole chin area or just where hairs come out? Do you need to shave or pluck the hair?

Have you used it anywhere else? I am getting some on my neck now.

Is it continued use or just for a few month's!

Thank you
