To want to believe in life after death

Part of me really wants to believe in this. Part of me is cynical. I’m still grieving but comforted a little by hearing anecdotes where people’s lost loved ones visit somehow, in any form… Can anyone give any personal stories where they feel this might have happened?

As we all know, our bodies decompose and stuff like nitrogen goes back into the soil to enrich it, so that's a clear answer of what happens physically. It seems rational to me that whatever makes our soul or whatever we call it would then have to be released outside of the physical form (after death)-perhaps because it requires electrical forces that a dead body wouldn't have to remain as part of it. So the floating above the body thing while being resuscitated after death seems fair. I'm not woo at all - I can't see why that would be woo as a theory. One day we might have the tools to scientifically observe this stuff - who knows.

But after that floating outside of the body where we then go, who knows....point is we don't know, so we can't disparage any theory and that means OP that you have every right to believe in life after death. In reality us humans know the tiniest tiny fraction about what is out there.
