To not like either Rishi Sunak or Liz Truss

I don't like either of those two. And I think both will be pretty bad for the country. Certainly not voting Tory again after this.

The latest the next GE can be is December 2024. I can’t see this shower of shit going on that long.

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 21/07/2022 20:36

Yanbu. No patriot could consider voting Tory again. Johnson wasn't the cause - he was a symptom. They have debased and endangered our democracy and our national security. The papers down play and normalise it but "British values" as they once were are in tatters thanks to these gangsters and their jeering supporters.

lurchermummy · 21/07/2022 20:38

Rock...,hard place.

Either way we're fucked.

Blossomtoes · 21/07/2022 18:30

I didn’t miss the point at all @JugglingJanuary. That was precisely the point I made. Mind you, I wouldn’t expect someone who would prefer Johnson to a Labour government to have particularly sharp comprehension skills.

@Blossomtoes

I apologise, I hadn't intended to @you. I was wrangling a playful puppy, I shouldn't have bothered posting.

But I don't think personal insults are required.

I'd rather have Boris back than either of these two idiots or the absolute catastrophe labour would be.

Could still be a possibility😁

@StormzyinaTCup

I'm the first one to agree he's not perfect, but if the alternatives are Sunak or Truss I'd rather stick with BJ. It would be interesting to see what the result would be if he was added & it was the three of them.

jgw1 · 21/07/2022 22:48

Surely when the answer is Truss or Sunak the wrong question is being asked?

StormzyinaTCup · 21/07/2022 22:55

@JugglingJanuary

My preferred choice went out early doors soon followed by my 2nd and 3rd choice so I say add BJ to the list. Yes, it would certainly be interesting to see how it played out, spice things up a bit!!

Wouldn't it be better to add someone who was honest, competent and selfless to the list?

What honest, competent and selfless person would stand for PM, especially in the current Tory party?!

Well that is certainly a problem for the Tory party if not one of their MPs or members fulfils those fairly basic criteria.

Viviennemary · 21/07/2022 23:11

I've just beem watching the press preview on Sky. They are both looking worse by the hour. The Tories are just about finished with either of them in charge.

I can't think of any MP across any party that would tick all three of those boxes. It takes a certain type of person to rise to the top and they don't tend to possess those traits. If such a politician does exist then they are on the back benches and that's probably where they would stay.

Yes! She’s like our version of Trump. It would be mortifying.

Do explain? In what way is she “our version of Trump”?

Or the historic Tory party! If you’re honest, competent and selfless, you’re not a Tory – MP or voter.

newnamethanks · 22/07/2022 09:32

Both as untrustworthy as the other. What an embarrassment that this is what's on offer, a financial finagler or another shagger. Horrible pair with Boris lurking in the wings. The whole mess is beyond satire or rational analysis.

VeryQuaintIrene · 22/07/2022 09:35

The Tories are just about finished with either of them in charge.

I admire your optimism.

Sloth66 · 23/07/2022 14:28

I don't want my daughters to grow up in a world where they need a visa or permit to work in Europe; or where they are hampered from growing a business because of extortionate call costs and barriers to trade. Every parent wants their children to grow up in a healthy environment with clean water, fresh air and thriving natural wonders. Being part of the EU helps protect these precious resources and spaces. - Liz Truss, June 2016

BeyondMyWits · 23/07/2022 14:45

Don't have to like either of them, one will get the top job anyhow. For a while at least.

It doesn't really matter who it is, the same headline manifesto policies will prevail.

Florenz · 23/07/2022 14:48

Politicians on all sides at the moment are a sorry bunch. The kind of people who would have gone into politics 50 years ago, simply aren't going into politics now.

eglantine7 · 30/07/2022 20:41

Rishi reminds me of parents at dds prep school which we abandoned. Out of touch. Slick but out of touch, whichbis NOT what the country needs now more than ever.
Liz Truss will be the right wings useful idiot. I fear she will be chosen. The way she dresses as Maggie Thatcher makes me fringe 😩

eglantine7 · 30/07/2022 20:43

I do think even lacklustre Keir Starmer stands a good chance with either if these 2 though.
I will be voting Green because I cannot stand any of the others.

Duchess379 · 31/07/2022 00:18

I'm not voting, full stop. I can't stand any MP. Every time they open their mouths, they lie.

Florenz · 31/07/2022 00:23

It wouldn't be a bad idea to just get rid of all MPs, and start anew. They're all a waste of space, most of them are just corrupt, and the ones that aren't corrupt aren't prepared to rock the boat and speak up about it.
