UC cost of living payment

Patchworkpuppy · 18/07/2022 08:46

I hope I can post this here.

We claim a top up of UC as my DP’s wage is low and I’m registered disabled.

We are eligible for the cost of living payment as I’ve checked and double checked the criteria.
But my payment still hasn’t gone in…most people I know who are on UC have received it.

I know I’m fortunate to be getting it at all, but the not knowing when I’ll get, if at all, it is really stressful 🙁

Hope this doesn’t offend anyone. I’m becoming obsessed with checking my bank account. But still nothing showing.

I haven’t had mine yet either OP. UC with carers allowance.
I’ve read some reports that state people who receive carers allowance won’t get it, but assumed that was those who just get carers rather than carers + UC.

MRSAHILL · 18/07/2022 13:12

Mine hasn't gone in yet and my surname begins with D. As a previous poster advised, I'm only counting on it going in on the 31st and if it arrived before then that's a bonus. I'll only be worried if I don't get it by 1st August.

MRSAHILL · 18/07/2022 13:17

@IsThisIt2021 I'm in the same position. I receive carers allowance and UC and read that people in receipt of carers allowance don't get it, but I'm hoping the UC entitles me to it.

A lot of people I know have had it but myself and a couple friends haven't. We were starting to wonder if it's alphabetical as the people we know who have had it have surnames around the first half of the alphabet. We are very close to the end. Seems a bit simple though so no clue. Fingers crossed soon

I got mine the first day it started and my surname begins with S.

Patchworkpuppy · 18/07/2022 13:36

@BoJoGoGoGo Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean

Mine went in today. Surname starts with L. Nat insurance number is B.

I assumed I'd get it on 31st. Any earlier was a 'bonus' although I'm sending half to my mum so I can save it for the holidays.

TeddyisMydog · 18/07/2022 13:44

Mine went in today, surname begins with L and last letter of NI is D

Mine went in today, my surname begins with C

Didn’t get mine yet and my name is a b

it’s not alphabetical

@BoJoGoGoGo Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean

NI numbers can only end in A, B, C or D. So if they're paying it in that order (it's not clear they are), D would be the last lot, not one if the first.

PutOnAHappyFace · 18/07/2022 13:52

My sister in law got hers and I haven't, same surname and my NI ends with A. It does seem pretty random, surely there is some order but who knows what.

Aloebee · 18/07/2022 13:56

I'd love to get this but am in the middle of switching over from tax credits to universal credit. I don't know what happens there. I get payed monthly at work so am really scraping the barrel for the next two weeks

TheWitchersWife · 18/07/2022 13:57

There's also 2 people in a joint claim, so which NI number or last name would they be looking at? (I know not everyone is on a joint claim, but for those that are).

GrandTheftWalrus · 18/07/2022 14:58

We have the same surname on our joint claim but obviously different letters on the end of our NI numbers. Also had an email today that said my statement had something about the payment on it but it didn't.

Sartre · 18/07/2022 15:00

It isn’t alphabetical. I’ve seen a lot of comments on my local community page about it and there’s no known pattern to payments. People seem to think those on income support received it first but I have no idea. It’s just any point up till the end of this month. We’re not eligible for it, I’ve just read a lot about it on there.

PinkButtercups · 18/07/2022 15:51

@AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair chill out ffs. Take a breather. You might get your payment soon.

RobertaFirmino · 18/07/2022 15:57

I've had mine, got it on the first day. I had already told myself that the payment was coming on the 31st though, saves all the bank checking etc.

Hoardasurass · 18/07/2022 16:26

@IsThisIt2021 and @MRSAHILL according to the message that I got on my uc is that if you live with someone who gets dla, pip, Scottish adult disability payment or Scottish child disability payment and you get carers (separately or as part of your UC) and or UC you will get the payment and in September you will also get the £150 disability payment as long as your claim was active in April/May and your award was for more than £0 that month. If you don't live with the disabled person that you care for but still get UC with the same caveats as above then you will just get the basic £650 (split by 2 payment).
It is only if you only get carers and no UC (in April/May) that you won't get it.

Patchworkpuppy · 18/07/2022 13:36

@BoJoGoGoGo Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean

There are only 4 letters on the end of a NINO - A B C and D so D is the last one - it's not being done in that order

MRSAHILL · 18/07/2022 16:44

@Hoardasurass thanks for that really useful information.

Patchworkpuppy · 18/07/2022 22:23

Still nothing 😭 I’m with Nationwide.

I work on UC. We haven't been told the order of the payments going out. They don't show on your payment statement or UC claim as other benefits are also getting it. There is just a message about how you might be entitled. It will show on your bank account as Dwp cost of living payment. Could be any day until 31st.

GrandTheftWalrus · 19/07/2022 00:24

I think mine has gone in. I had a balance of 105. Its now showing over 400 but my bank is a nightmare at updating quickly etc.

ThePumpkinPatch · 19/07/2022 00:52

Allthegoodnamesaregoneffs · 18/07/2022 08:58

Mine is showing as pending for tomorrow, but it could have been any day until the 31st.

Why not, in your head, plan for it being here on the 31st, and if it comes sooner then that's a bonus

May I ask what bank you're with please? I'd love to see what payments are pending to go in the next day!

Patchworkpuppy · 18/07/2022 22:23

Still nothing 😭 I’m with Nationwide.

it’s only the 19th, you know that it’s to be paid by July 31st so why are you panicking that you’re not going to get it? Confused

I'm with first direct, but many banking apps show pending payments
