To get a tattoo

I really want two new tattoo's - I have two already but are both very covered unless I'm in a bikini. The two I want would be much easier to see - one on my forearm and one on my shoulder.

The AIBU - my oldest friend asked me to be best woman at his wedding next summer. I know he isn't a fan of tattoo's especially on women. No dresses have been chosen yet so depending on style the shoulder one may not be seen, but I highly doubt the one on my arm will be covered.

AIBU to consider getting the tattoo's now or should I wait a year, knowing I'll be in several of their photo's?

YABU - just wait, it's only a year
YANBU - your body, just get them done now

@alphapie you are sounding so awful!!! It's unreal!

wellhelloitsme · 17/07/2022 20:40

What if she'd got pregnant between becoming your bridesmaid and the wedding @alphapie?

Are you one of those people who wouldn't want to have a bridesmaid with a baby bump?

I always wonder if anyone in real life would get annoyed about stuff like that but if a perm pissed you off so much, and you held off TTC yourself for someone else's wedding, then maybe you're proof that it is a real thing I guess!

mycatisannoying · 17/07/2022 20:43

I don't mind tattoos in either sex. I really don't. But there is nothing in this world more tacky than a bride with tattoos on her arm.

Oh, thanks :(

Harridance · 17/07/2022 20:46

I've seen some amazing tattoos in this heat wave

You must be kidding, your bridesmaid couldn't have curly hair....

What a massive bridezilla!!

That's probably one of worst things I've heard!

Me too.

I don't have or want tattoos so no skin, tattooed or otherwise, in the game.

I still think this is a needlessly dickish thing to post, knowing it's likely to make some people feel a bit crap about themselves and how they looked on a day that was important to them.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/07/2022 20:49

@mycatisannoying

Wow. You sound lovely. Shouldn't people with tattoos be allowed to get married then? Does Jesus not approve? What a load of utter bollocks you speak.

slashlover · 17/07/2022 20:58

Due to the length of her hair, with a perm it couldn't be done up. I wasn't going to have one BM with shit looking hair that couldn't even be manipulated into the same style as the others. Looked more mad professor than bridesmaid.
She was given the option, come as a guest or get the perm straightened out, she chose the latter.

So your bridesmaids being identikit versions of each other was more important that your family member's feelings? I know you say she has it straightened now, but ever thing that apparently you and every one else judging her had something to do with it?

ThinWomansBrain · 17/07/2022 21:00

Recently permed hair straighened? Given that a perm can easily cost north of £200, and you're supposed toleave them alone as much as possible in the initial stages, I'm surprised that she didn't tell you to get lost. Unless she doesn't exist of course.

I know exactly what straightening a perm does, hence why I gave her the option to drop out.

My wedding, my choices 🤷‍♀️

I wouldn't give a shit, the dress could have accommodated a bump.

Trust me when I say the hair was bad, her parents had been trying to get her to stop for nearly a year as it was awful

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/07/2022 19:31

@alphapie
Every word you say here makes you sound worse. Your 'friend' should've told you to stick the straighteners where the sun doesn't shine. You really do sound horrible/controlling/batshit.

Not a friend, and she had a choice, decided to stay a BM and get her hair sorted.

Loved it, and has kept getting it straightened since.

Not identical, but I'm not having 5 with nice up-dos and one rocking down with mad professor hair.

Due to how short her hair was, the perm made it go outwards over than nice curls down. Can't even describe it, but it was like a triangle with her crown the top of the triangle.

Harridance · 17/07/2022 21:39

What does it matter if one has different hair? They're different people.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/07/2022 21:40

@alphapie Just wow.

Because it's my wedding, most weddings have bridesmaids with the same hair.

What a silly thing to get your knickers in a twist over.

My money, my wedding, my choice of hair style. If her shit perm meant her hair couldn't even be combed let alone done up nicely she had 2 options, and chose to remain a BM.

doghaters · 17/07/2022 21:56

@alphapie you cannot be serious !

Harridance · 17/07/2022 21:56

Most weddings? Not ones I've been to.

This isn't real. Nobody is this much of a knob

StarlightLady · 18/07/2022 07:25

I have one small bespoke tattoo, which was designed by someone very special to me. She worked hard on the design and it means a lot to me. It is very much part of me.

lt may be her wedding but it is your body. I would not entertain the idea of camouflage and would not consider someone much of a friend where this was such a big issue to them.

Sapphirejane · 18/07/2022 08:24

@alphapie - you are really missing the point (as usual). It doesn’t matter if it is your wedding, it doesn’t matter if she had a permed hair, rainbow hair or no hair , dictating other peoples appearance to your specifications (employment uniforms not withstanding) is a dick move.
