25 degrees Mon night - sleep under the stars?

That's it really. I'm in the Red Zone. Daytime temps between 35 and 38 depending on the forecaster. Pretty consistent about night though - 23-25.

So I'm thinking, I've camped a fair bit (so have SIM etc..) but never actually slept under the stars. I'm quite tempted to! Have 2 teen dcs who I could offer the option to, but happy to do it solo otherwise.

What do you reckon?

We've already got our camping beds ready downstairs. I suspect it'll still be too hot indoors to sleep properly, so I might join you. I've been known to have a nap outside when our tent is too hot, so not much difference

I have to admit I'd forgotten about the time of sunrise 😅

Am still searching for mozzie net... I don't think i could do it without one sadly, I am apparently tasty to the buggers... but mattress on kitchen floor with back door open and Loads of insect repellant might work...

DC spent last night in a tent in the garden - one got a couple of bites and woke up early because it was light, the other has sleep headphones that double as an eye mask and used those. They said it was much cooler than their bedrooms.

Our tent is flexible so can be used without the fly sheet. Open to the stars but mozzies kept at bay.

My 14 year old has done this Friday night and last night with his Explorers group. They are in the woods on the farm where they do Explorers. Tents are pitched but they havent slept in them.

Go for it!! Hes in a sleeping bag that has the option of the extra bit to cover head.

I have a cottage with 2' thick walls and good dg. I have cotton sheets and open my sash windows top and bottom and it's cool. When it's hot put wet blankets by the windows and this helps take the heat down. In London I have slept in my garden on a sunbed with a cotton sheet. But here with a large garden in Cornwall I definitely get bitten more so wear socks and long trousers

What about an insect smelly torch thing?

you could put a sheet over the top of the trampoline in the day and use pegs, then give it a spray of bug spray and use a night torch.
