To ask of those of your 'cursed' with chin hairs, do they behave like this?!

I've had chin hairs since my mid 20s. I have had tests, hormone checks etc, no known cause. I am getting laser now (I'm 40) and it is helping but not massively yet-up until I decided to do this I just plucked.

Anyway, I have found in the last few years that if I squeeze around the base of some of the hairs, they just 'pop out'. Similar to if one squeezes a blackhead. It is as if they're not 'anchored' or have a proper follicle, I can squish them out and they look like tiny little strands of dark hair.

Not all of them do this, some of them are definitely 'proper' hairs. But some of them do.
Am I alone?

It's worse when they go grey and you can't see them easily because they're translucent. You have to stroke the skin slowly so they catch the light momentarily when they spring back, then you can get at them with the tweezers.

DH and I both have random fine hairs that pop out and are suddenly spotted waving in the breeze. His are called Bob. "Oh Bob's grown back" I'll tell him, and he will snap it with his fingers.

I have a mole with bristly hairs coming out of it, first spotted when I was fecking sixteen. "Oh look! Just like your gran!" said my mother gleefully. Thanks mum, all teenagers long for the gran comparison. I've had decades of bristle tweezing, why don't they just give up and go away?! Some have gone grey too, so that's nice <gloom>

Yes! Mine have recently started doing this. I can see them under the skin, little dark bits that look like ingrown hairs but then with a squeeze they just pop straight out

This is lovely and made me smile - this is what intimacy looks like when you really get to someone’s every detail.

I'm a raging popaholic.
Look up a video on sebaceous filaments, because that's what these sound like by your description.

They're not gruesome vids, because the filaments aren't really pimples.

I've looked up sebaceous filaments, and they are like that! But they're BLACK!

I’m in my late 40’s now and in the last 18 months I started getting a lot of hairs on my chin and top lip. That didn’t bother me too much as I would just put hair remover cream on my top lip and the hairs would come off but my chin was totally different as I started getting spots were the hair was trapped.

To cut a long story short I had to go back on the pill ( dianette) not for contraception but for hirsutism and after 4 months I started seeing results as in no new hair growth on my chin therefore No blocked pores, so no spots..I’m still taking it and I have had no side effects but this pill isn’t long term and I will finish it soon so fingers crossed.

This pill isn’t for everyone and I have No medical qualifications, only my opinion.

I had one spot where it kept growing again and again and it was always a really thick hair and when I plucked it would sort of pop out with this really odd plug at the base. The pore started to get painful and irritated so I exfoliated religiously and that particular one finally stopped re-growing.

now I just have the random mutant chin hairs that go from nothing to over 1/2 an inch long in day.

I developed a mole on my chin in my 30s, which was fine until it started sprouting hairs. I literally pluck them before bed and when I wake up in the morning there are about 6 new ones, all growing in different directions.

I have just finished a house of laser treatment and the difference Is incredible!

I am sorry but (and I don't know why!) I found this hilarious!
