I can’t cope with my daughters tics anymore.

I was wondering if there was anyone on here who can help? Or has the same thing?

My 8 year old has vocal tics, throat clearing and grunting. It’s literally every 3 seconds whilst she is awake.

I have misophonia and asd and her tics set off my anxiety and rage (never at her!).

I just can’t live like this anymore. Right now she’s in bed and I’m 2 floors below her and I can still hear it, there’s is literally no escape from it.

It’s effecting our relationship so much because I just find spending time with her so painful atm.

Doctors are no help at all. I miss our close relationship before all this started. I’m so so down about it all.

I'm intrigued- is there a link?

That must be terribly difficult . I've no idea how I would cope but probably not as well as you.

Like a PP, I had similar tics (plus others like twitching one eye and rubbing the back of my head on my shoulder) at that age and have since been diagnosed as autistic. I don’t tic like that anymore but I have echolalia and many, many vocal stims.

Ironically, I can’t bear repetitive noises and anyone sniffing or clearing their throat near me pushes me to meltdown. I can’t put into words how sensitive I am to noise, yet I have zero volume control myself 🫠

Try a liquid magnesium supplement like Floradix. It's been like an absolute miracle in our house. I can always tell if my ds misses a dose. You have to take it for a good few days for it to build up in the system but after that the effects are incredible.

Hi could some one maybe private message me about this condition my son has been making strange noises from his throat I have been the docs 4 times with him now thinking it is an infection but now am starting to think it is a vocal tic as he already has a motor one constantly blowing his hands
