To not understand why Penny Mordaunt is so popular?

She seems to have loads of support. Does anyone know why? It seems like she’s come out of nowhere.

They do want Thatcher. But the thing is that calling Penny Morduant even a ‘Pound Shop Thatcher’ would be an insult to Thatcher. And pound shops. Thatcher was a woman of high intellect and steely determination - you don’t have to agree with her policies to admit that. Penny Morduant on that other hand has quite widely known to be a bit slow and dim by those who have worked with her.

That's sensible, forward planning. It wasn't difficult to see that Johnson would be gone before the next election, why not get people primed for you? Anyone who didn't see what was coming or was unprepared, shows lack foresight and drive in my opinion.

I do think her bosom and hair combined with the thought of her in a Naval uniform might excite a certain type of person.

Much though I detest Laboour's fence-sitting on women's sex-based rights, I don't understand how anyone could vote Tory over this. It demeans the issue if you treat it as a reason to support those cruel, cynical, toxic, nasty people.

As for Mordaunt, honestly I have no idea. The anti-Sunak? A shire-dweller's wet dream? The least known thus least embarrassing? Search me.

That would be the party which has had two female leaders to labour’s zero? The party where half the candidates for this election were from minority ethnic groups while Labour can still only produce fat pompous white male lawyers as leader???

Britain always had a veto over any aspiring member, and if Mordaunt had previously had any credibility, her infamous dishonesty about Turkey destroyed it. I thought part of the reason for ditching Boris Johnson was his habit of lying

Even Thatcher's detractors, of whom I am one, would agree that she had a brilliant intellect and unbelievable work ethic. There is a theory that her habit of only sleeping four hours per night (in order to get more work done) was a cause of the dementia to which she succumbed in later life.

I think she has that let’s get on with it with no fuss appeal that many like in the Tory party and is appealing to some voters

she doesn’t come across as awkward as LT or as desperate as RS and I think it’s accepted his wife’s statues isn’t good for votes

and she has changed her mind or apparently never believed what she was saying on the trans position, Tories have no problem backtracking if it possibly means more votes

I couldn't give a monkeys if the leader is white/black/male/female.............I do care we do not have a lying and convicted criminal as PM......and the only alternatives on offer from the Tories are those who supported lying, convicted PM. The current PM's obesity is also irrelevant.

To be fair that was in response to someone chuntering on about how much the tories apparently ‘hate’ women and ethnic minorities, when in fact they’ve made two women PM and half of the cabinet are BAME. PP was just pointing our Labour’s record isn’t as good on this.

People dont actually really vote for the conservatives because they 'know what a woman is'. They vote for them for the usual reasons, otherwise they would be voting for the communist party who are actually gender critical (and not just out for the hatred of LGBT people) en masse
