I think my boss is eating my dog's peanut butter.....

I bring my dog to work once a week. To keep him entertained if he get's a bit fed up I put some of his peanut butter on a licky mat for him. Went to the jar today and I swear it has gone down since last time - colleague says they haven't touched it, sure the dog hasn't helped himself so that just leaves the boss. Would I be unreasonable to bring him a ham bone and tell him he's a good boy? Seriously though.... I don't want to embarrass him by just asking outright, so I've drawn a tiny mark on the jar to monitor the situation. Would I be unreasonable to just let him carry on??

Could you buy your boss a cheap jar of value peanut butter and write “Boss’ butter” on the front with a card, perhaps:

Dear Mr/Mrs/Ms Boss,
Thanks for welcoming me to the office.
As you enjoy my peanut butter so much, I have bought you one for your own pleasure!
Lots of licks and woofs,

You seem very trusting that it is not your colleagues so definitely must be the boss. If someone is taking it on the sly they would obviously deny it, so I wouldn't call out your boss in any way.
