Sick to death of f’ing cleaning

Kanfuzed123 · 10/07/2022 19:03

Not exactly and aibu but aside from the general premise of cleaning which I loath, there are 2 things that are making my life more annoying:

1 laminate floor… ive got one of those floor mops for the floor wipes and yet it’s always fucking dirty. How on earth do you keep it clean? Please can I have any suggestions?

  1. cordless mother f’ing dyson… I might as well use my daughters toy hoover it’s got the same suction, that is unless I use the max suction function which is fabulous for approximately 14 seconds and then it dies. Can anyone recommend a good hover that doesn’t cost a bomb? And is good with hair, the joys of post partum means I’m malting at an impressive rate

Shoes off as soon as you step indoors , I only mop about once a fortnight and the shark cordless is excellent.

What do you mop with? I think my floor wipes combo isn’t hacking it.

which model shark? This dyson is a f’ing nightmare that cost a small fortune

Robo hoover! He just bimbles around and the amount he picks up is genuinely quite shameful. We have a Shark cordless which we use for corners and hard to reach bits, but robo hoover comes out every day to do the bulk of the floors.

Greydogs123 · 10/07/2022 19:38

I use an old fashioned mop like they used to use in schools. It’s really good at giving a good clean. Can't help with vacuum as I also have a shit cordless dyson!

tootiredtobother · 10/07/2022 19:40

shark here but not cordless, presumably you are hoovering before mopping but those wipe things are useless

RandomQuest · 10/07/2022 19:40

If funda will permit…
Get a roomba, the good type that maps the space and empties itself and the robot mop by the same company.

livelyoasis · 10/07/2022 19:41

I use a microfibre mop, possibly a vileda, can't quite remember. I just use a light solution of dettol or zoflora , quick once over and it dries really quickly.

Agree with you about dyson, had one before and it was the worst , most expensive waste of money. It spat more out than it sucked up!

Shark anti hair wrap cordless. It's really great , honestly, so easy to use and powerful. Cost about £250 but worth it.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 10/07/2022 19:42

robo hoover and I have a shark!

I get the robo on while I’m putting my baby to bed and the living room is lovely and dust free by the time I’m back - I only do a big hoover once a week

I only mop once a week I have a vax steam mop too thay only comes out like once every 2 weeks maybe

the mop is a basic one won’t a triangle pad on it that can go in the wash

I follow organised mum method actually so just do one room a day of a short amount of cleaning and nothing on the weekend

kitcat15 · 10/07/2022 19:42

Old fashioned mop here too....we use flash and we have LVT and wooden floors throughout downstairs .... cordless hoover .... mid range price...works fine

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 10/07/2022 19:42

A noodle mop for the floor would be better. Dry head for a first dust/sweep over followed by a light misting of your chosen cleaning product or water and mop with a clean head.
robo hoover seem to be ideal and you can get them with mopping functions if you want to delegate the entire task!!

Afterfire · 10/07/2022 19:42

You need a proper old school mop that you use with a bucket and hot water with flash cleaner in it. Everything else just wipes the dirt around.

DenholmElliot1 · 10/07/2022 19:43

Robot hoover.

Robot mop plus old fashioned bucket and mop

turquoise1988 · 10/07/2022 19:47

I use a Vileda spray mop for LVT floor - once a week. I hear you about the Dyson. We moved house recently and it just can't handle quite a large floor space. I've heard good things about Shark. We currently have a Henry but whilst it cleans well, it's a bugger to lug around.

stuckonanlnertrainagain · 10/07/2022 19:50

Dyson is crap get a miele

Robo are fine- I have 4 eufys but they dont do skirting boards or walls or stairs

Kanfuzed123 · 10/07/2022 19:52

To everyone that said old fashioned mop, i thought you couldn’t use an old fashioned mop on laminate… it’s what they told us when they put it in, too much water?

I’ve a hetty in the garage and it’s just a beast, always falling over and a mare to lug around

I need to look into that!

we’ve got a steam vax in the garage but I thought you couldn’t use it on laminate and truthfully it made everything sticky, now DH is convinced it’s broken aka he’s fucking broke it

😂

And, I’m sorry, OP. The relentless nature of cleaning is annoying as fuck.

Anyway. Robot hoover and a g-tech or shark stick thing.

For mopping, I use an e-cloth one but some of the others mentioned here are probably more effective.

CatLadyDrinksGin · 10/07/2022 19:59

Proper corded shark vacuum. Cordless can’t compete. Got wooden floors not laminate but I vacuum first then use a flat microfibre pad mop with method almond cleaner. Even that isn’t ideal- use a proper mop and bucket for the kitchen as you need to physically remove the dirt not just smear it around with a wipe/steam mop etc. Several cloths and a spray would be better!

greenacrylicpaint · 10/07/2022 20:05
  • don't wear glasses indoors Grin
  • delegate (my teens do all the hoovering)
  • don't have pets indoors
  • mever wear white socks
Tillsforthrills · 10/07/2022 20:08

Robinson hoovers all over the place.

Henry the hoover pet version has incredible suction. I found the Shark and Dyson models crappy.

Tillsforthrills · 10/07/2022 20:09

*robo

I've been using a mop on laminate for years

it's like fake wood looking laminate. It's fine.

the relentless nature of cleaning....I agree.

Those wipes don't clean the floor properly. Mop and bucket with a cleaning solution is the only way. No shoes inside and the floor will stay clean for a week or more
