Sick to death of f’ing cleaning

Kanfuzed123 · 10/07/2022 19:03

Not exactly and aibu but aside from the general premise of cleaning which I loath, there are 2 things that are making my life more annoying:

1 laminate floor… ive got one of those floor mops for the floor wipes and yet it’s always fucking dirty. How on earth do you keep it clean? Please can I have any suggestions?

  1. cordless mother f’ing dyson… I might as well use my daughters toy hoover it’s got the same suction, that is unless I use the max suction function which is fabulous for approximately 14 seconds and then it dies. Can anyone recommend a good hover that doesn’t cost a bomb? And is good with hair, the joys of post partum means I’m malting at an impressive rate

@heymammmmmaasas are you for real ?

CheshireDing · 10/07/2022 20:17

We have had dyson cordless and shark cordless , both shit. The shark broke after less than a year

so we went back to Miele cat and dog with a cord. The Miele is expensive (as the others are) but honestly it’s far superior and can stand up to our life - small DC, animals, big kitchen area etc

we hoover, then steam mop the ceramic tiles and Miele mop the slate tiles

we steam out laminate and it’s fine

Treacletreacle · 10/07/2022 20:17

Have you washed the filter on your cordless dyson?? I was moaning mine was shit then decided sod it and chucked the top filter in the washing machine and the hoover was like a brand new one working perfect again after this. Obviously i know all models are not the same but give it a go if you can. And check the bottom plate isnt blocked with hair. I only use my dyson cordless for a quick going over and sadly have to get the beast out the cupboard for a decent clean so i do feel your pain.

DorritLittle · 10/07/2022 20:18

You all mop your floors a lot...

Hoovering, does your Dyson need a new battery? Changing ours helped a bit but we use a stand up Dyson for proper hoovering.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/07/2022 20:21

DH ended up getting a bigger battery for the Dyson, I now get about 15 mins on full blast . Think he ordered in on eBay.

  • don't wear glasses indoors Grin
  • delegate (my teens do all the hoovering)
  • don't have pets indoors
  • mever wear white socks

You should change that don’t have pets in doors, to don’t have pets. Because if you don’t let your pets indoors then you shouldn’t have them full stop!

Definitely get a Henry! There's a lightweight version that is very powerful! Cord is really long too, mopping we use a vileda mop and the bucket that spins the mop drier, doesn't get floors to wet so fine for laminate but you can scrub any patches! (I'm a cleaner) x

Pibble · 10/07/2022 20:22

I just got a vileda turbo mop, it spins the water out of the mop so you don't have to wring it out, it's amazing how much faster it is. And yes to a corded shark, I've had mine a few years and it's still amazing, it does need a good clean out from time to time though to keep the suction

Wishfulthinking1977 · 10/07/2022 20:22

And zoflora is fantastic on floors and leaves the room smelling clean for ages! X

MistressoftheDarkSide · 10/07/2022 20:27

Another Henry fan here x

Yes a bugger to lug about but the suction makes up for it big time x

i have no laminate but I do have ever so slightly textured cream tiles in our kitchen and am resigned to hands and knees scrubbing when I can be arsed / it looks like environment health might be called in - adult sons are labourers / gardeners and apparently oblivious and can’t make coffee / protein shakes without a liberal sprinkling over every surface……. But that’s my problem x

good luck with the laminate …..

Moonriver22 · 10/07/2022 20:28

Bona mop for the hard wood floors - a million times easier than wipes. Robot hoover.

Vikinga · 10/07/2022 20:30

Shark cordless anti hair wrap is brilliant. And mop and bucket. But I've got 2 types of laminates. One is matte and is really forgiving and another is shiny and never looks clean. So if you can change it, change your flooring.

we already take shoes off, no pets, although PP hair loss means I’m malting like an Afghan hound (I don’t know, do they malt?), it’s the kids and the husband… they’re all droppers.

right I’m digging the hetty out and she’s living upstairs in the bottom of our wardrobe, tbos dyson bollocks, I vax’d my carpets last week and just had balls of black fluff everywhere from where it’s just not picked it up

I use an E cloth mop….same as the one you’ve got but instead of the wipes it’s a cloth that velcros on. You’ll need two cloths though so you can wash them.

Then I use diluted all purpose Ecover and tip it onto the floor and use the mop in a scooping action….that way there’s no hoovering to do first and you can pick up the bits with kitchen roll. I use a tiny bit of bleach with the Ecover mainly to stop the mop getting smelly.

Normal mops are ok but I can’t be bothered with filling the bucket and tipping away the dirty water.

Another tip is to clean every day very quickly….i reckon you can wipe a whole bathroom including the floor in about three minutes.

Bluevelvetsofa · 10/07/2022 20:41

Have a look at a cordless Beko on AO. Cheaper than most with good suction, imo. The only slight negative is that you need to empty it often, but that’s not really a hardship. Use it on carpets, hard floors and furniture. Several different tools and an extender hose.

ZandathePanda · 10/07/2022 20:43

I got persuaded by the Shark. It’s still useless compared to my Sebo.
Vacuum cleaners used to be more powerful then EU laws said it couldn’t be over a certain wattage.
Amazon do the Sebo cheaper than the Sebo shop can. I chatted to them and they are the same models. They have a boost button to get round the law on certain models such as the pet one.

twoandcooplease · 10/07/2022 20:52

I've had three different Shark's and I thought they were the greatest thing to begin with, then they slowly start to get shit
So, I borrowed dm's Henry and after seeing how much it cleaned the floors and how easy the hose came apart I totally forgot about the lugging it around
In my opinion the benefits totally outweigh the weight of Henry

FlorDeMayoByTheMile · 10/07/2022 20:55

i hate my shark. It just pushes the stuff around.

Favouritefruits · 10/07/2022 20:56

You can’t beat a Henry hoover, it’s suction is amazing! I have a dyson for the main rooms then go around the edges with Henry. For the wood floor I Henry hoover it then get on my hands and knees with a jcloth and wipe.

tomorrow hetty will officially be coming out of retirement!

I love my cordless Dyson !

I love my really dark wood laminate.......doesn't show the dirt.

When I do clean it (now and then) I use an old fashioned mop with very hot water, then dry off with squares of an old towel pushed by another mop

Bestshapeever · 10/07/2022 21:11

No idea about hoovers or mops but your posts make me laugh OP!

Derbyderby · 10/07/2022 22:04

Just been reading all of your posts. I’m really struggling at the moment but you have all given me a bit of a giggle so thank you!
In the theme of the thread we have wooden and tiled floors and I hoover with Henry and clean on my hands and knees with microfibre cloth and bucket x

Dixiechickonhols · 10/07/2022 22:09

Hate our shark anti hair wrap cordless it has poor suction. I sent first one back as I thought it was faulty but replacement is just as rubbish. Carpets only look clean once a fortnight when cleaner does them with Henry. Laminate I vac then steam mop.
