To think if you want lots of flowers, you should be prepared to water them?

I love flowers in the garden, but realize they’re a lot of work, which I have neither the time or patience for. I don’t like watering and I’m not rowoaeed to give up 40mins every evening to do it.

There are some beautiful fake hanging baskets that look lovely without the need to ever water them!

Aibu to think that if you have lots of flowers in your garden, you should be the one to water them and not expect anyone else to do it?

Forget a hose, buy a water butt and a big watering can!

Buy a watering can or fit an outside tap/water but.

Watering my garden takes over half an hour to do. I have a lot of bedding plants, tubs and new borders. The flowers would e as dead as the grass if I didn't water them.

When I first moved into a house a few years ago the previous tenants had left some pots. Took me about a month of watering them to realise that one small shrub was actually plastic 🙈 So some can look realistic (at least that's what I tell myself rather than admitting to being completely unobservant!)

But even that one, after a couple of winters started to degrade, and dropped bits of plastic all over. The world does not need more microplastics breaking down into the soil.

Also YABU. I like flowers and can't always be bothered watering them. I find it very unreasonable that plants, wilt, look incredibly sad, then eventually die if you can't be bothered for long enough. They need to stop being so dramatic and needy 😁

Lol why don’t you buy a hose or get a watering can 😂

Fake flowers?? Poor bee's 🐝

MassiveSalad22 · 09/07/2022 08:33

Literally never occurred to me to water the plants…. They seem to grow and spread just fine 😅

I water plants till they get established. So I’ve put 4 trees in and they get a good soaking once a week. Lots of pots that need watering too.

agree that fake plants are soulless, bad for the environment and give nothing.

there’s lots of easy care flowery plants that you can stick I. The ground and forget about.

fake grass…don’t get me started.

You don’t even need a watering can. If you have a bucket, fill it up and then refill your jug from that.

I had an outdoor tap put in so I could use a hose or watering can filled up outside.

I don't think watering takes that long unless you have lots of pots or are growing lots of veg. Nothing in my border is watered except for the hydrangea as it does dramatically wilt. That tells me that I really need to work on improving the soil in that area of the garden.

My pots need regular watering but I wouldn't ask anybody else to do it on a regular basis because it's my choice to have them so they shouldn't be responsible for the upkeep. Sometimes one of the kids might want to join in or I might ask as a one off if I'm busy and the pot situation is getting desperate. I think fake plants look awful. Sorry. Is there not the option of planting straight into the ground? Or perhaps setting up an irrigation system or even just using really big containers so they need less frequent watering?
