When do you get your payslips?

This is following on from another thread about me not being paid on time.
I can't find any info, but my new employer has told me that payslips "usually arrive a few days after we've been paid."
Just seems very vague, is there a legal requirement surrounding this or is it just whatever the employer feels like?

2-3 days beforehand when I was employed.

I’m so sick of ready about lazy and incompetent employers. It’s outrageous - so many seem to think they’re doing you a favour.

Mine is ready to view from 0.01 am on the day before payday.

Same here. It really pisses me off.

Ours are available to view the day before payday. Very occasionally on the day itself but never afterwards

We’re a small business with 6 of us in total. My colleague sets up the payroll a week or so before payday and prints the payslips then. We either hand them out or keep them in the office for people to collect, but they always get them before payday.

Id definitely prefer email, but I’m not even sure half our team own email accounts or computers, so it’s not going to happen any time soon!

Ours are available online the day before but if they're posted it can be a week before to a couple days after pay hits my account.

Depends on how complicated the payroll is and how many adjustments need to be made, before the payroll can be finalised.

Some payrolls are really easy. Some aren't.

Legally must be on or before pay day. I release ours 2 working days before.

Day before, emailed from our payroll providers.

But by the time the pay is calculated and sent on its way to the employee's account all those 'complicated sums' should have been done so in the days of electronic communication, there's not really much of an excuse to not be able to distribute payslips before payday.

Ours are available to view a week before, which is unusually and unnecessarily early but at least there are no surprises come pay day.

I only get one if I ask, no issues if I want one but waste of paper if I don't, charity

I am in charge of payroll at our company...
I email the payslip's in the morning...
I transfer the wage's at 3pm...

Mine was before I was paid, available online 2 to 3 days beforehand. I don't have a physical pay slip by choice, just the P60 once a year.

You should get your payslip on or before payday.

I manage the client payroll in an accountancy practice for this we use an online portal for payslips etc - we use the same software for our in-house payroll but the person who processes it has been with the company forever & doesn't even use email so we've no chance of moving onto the portal system ourselves until they die retire.

We usually get our payslips when they wander round the office handing them out.

I employ people and the payroll system automatically emails payslips to everyone once I've finalised the payroll. This is always at least a day (usually 2 days) before the money goes into their bank accounts

I don't think many people are talking about pieces of paper.

My employer is usually behind the times with anything technological, but it is still some years since I've had anything except a pdf of a payslip, which can be produced with free software, so within the reach of even the smallest or most cash strapped employer.

I didn't know paper payslips were still a thing. We've been paperless (PDF) since 2018, downloadable on the same day as it goes into the bank. This is on the 28th of the month, or the nearest day before it if the 28th falls on a weekend or bank holiday.

This makes no sense.

Payroll is finalised, whether that takes 1 day or 10.

Once finalised ledgers are updated, payment file is sent to the bank and payslips produced at the same time.

you can’t pay the funds until it’s finalised so you’re just wrong.

Usually on a Tuesday. Paid on Fridays.

They're usually available in my online bank 1-2 days before payday.
