I had to help prepare some fruit (cut it up) for an event we had on today at work. There were apples, bananas and oranges etc. One of my colleagues said I was slicing apples wrong and laughed loudly making everyone else turn around. Aibu to say this was wrong of her to embarrass me? E

I was once told I was putting cards in envelopes wrong.

Sounds like how I would slice apples though

I was helping out at a soup kitchen once and the coordinator told me I was cutting a vegetable wrongly (I can't remember what it was now, something leafy like cabbage). It was really emabrrassing because she showed me three times and I couldn't see how what she was doing was different from what I was doing, I felt like an idiot. Then I felt like I'd been massively conned when I found out all the veg were going into a big pot of stew - who cares how a cabbage is cut if it's ending up in a bowl of stew?! As long as it's roughly the right size pieces, job done.

I believe it was exactly this which prompted Boris Johnson to finally resign as party leader.

I think it was, Priti Patel (the well known glue stick) who laughed and guffawed at him whilst he attempted a fruit salad for the remaining members of the cabinet.

What is she, six years old? What a nob. And yeah, I can empathise. I'd have been embarrassed too.

I think some people cut apples top to bottom and some cut them across the horizontal diameter, don't they? Maybe that's what she meant.

I think you're probably reading too much into this, OP. I have a colleague who eats Neopolitan pizza by eating the toppings first and then folding up the base and eating that separately. Our office is near a great pizza place that we go to a lot for work things, and his pizza routine invariably prompts a 'That's a really weird way to eat a pizza, mate!' observation or a 'What are you doing, you philistine?!' joke but that's all it is, a joke. He isn't offended by it and it's not meant as a serious criticism. Just one of those observations about how we all have different quirks, really.

In ye olde 70s a teacher hit my cousin on the head with his knuckles for 'doing his o the wrong way round'. We were in junior school & not even started learning joined up writing.
