AIBU - Aldi: How much should this have cost...?

GingerWit · 02/07/2022 20:51

I'm not sure if I should be shocked or I should have realised everything will cost more due to cost of living situation etc and I need to suck it up.

However, Mumsnetter's!

How much do you think the following should have cost?

Small tray of beef pieces
Jar of mango chutney
2 onions
Bag of wonky peppers
3 packets of microwave rice
Small, plastic container
Cheap drinks bottle
Tin of mixed fruits
2 Naan Bread's
Garlic bread
Small tray of Indian bits (bhaji and samosa x2)
Flour
Sugar

One bag of shopping from Aldi. This is also a bit of fun/tongue-in-cheek to help me get over handing over the money when it came time to pay and my daughter needed to unfurl my iron-like grip from my card and put it in the card machine for me while I stood there wondering when are my kids gonna get a job at the ages of 8,9, and 14 and buy me food instead and leave my money alone.

Alas, here I am! So...how much!? Have a guess!

(I didn't get a receipt. Daughter was too busy guiding me out of the store through my veil of tears and catatonic state. I might actually just be a tight-wod!?) Hubby works full-time, I work full-time.

Anyway!

How much!?

(Stffu, Aldi! Stffuuuuuu! hisses)

£26

NoNoNoooo · 02/07/2022 21:31

£18 maybe 🤔

PutinSmellsPassItOn · 02/07/2022 21:31

Considering we spend about £75 a week in Aldi on a full trolley of shopping (( mainly meat, fruit, veg and a bit of dairy / bread plus a few snacks )) that does seem high to me and I'd wonder if you'd been overcharged

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 02/07/2022 21:32

How the hell was that £45- and yes we shop in aldi weekly so I’m majorly shocked and think you’ve paid for someone else’s shopping

EmmaH2022 · 02/07/2022 21:33

I shop at Aldi
that is wrong.

PinkSyCo · 02/07/2022 21:33

What?!! I can get a full weeks shopping for myself and my DS for £45! Did you check your receipt?

Babyroobs · 02/07/2022 21:36

I spent not much more in Lidl today and had four full bags of shopping. No mat though.

meat not mat.

hatinacat · 02/07/2022 21:36

Are you sure they didn't make a mistake on the checkout?

I calculated those items for Waitrose and it came to £27.85. I didn't choose the cheapest or smallest items either.

youngestisapsycho · 02/07/2022 21:36

£29

Hdocheub820 · 02/07/2022 21:37

I always check my receipt at Aldi now as twice I've been charged incorrectly for items...
I bought a bunch of bananas and was charged £10 for them...apparently the code they typed in manually for bananas is identical apart from the last digit to the code for a bottle of rum...!

youngestisapsycho · 02/07/2022 21:39

Can we see the receipt please… I wanna know what everything cost Individually now! Very intrigued

GoBackToPartyCity · 02/07/2022 21:40

Nah, something’s not right there! I usually by that kind of stuff with my full weekly shop and I get a trolley full for £80!

Squiff70 · 02/07/2022 21:42

The OP said she didn't get a receipt.

Arenanewbie · 02/07/2022 21:42

OP, I’ve doubled check again using Aldi website and assuming that you’ve bought the most expensive butter. It can’t be right. No way this list cost £45 at Aldi. They’ve made a mistake and overcharged you for something/ put the wrong amount.

FelicityBeedle · 02/07/2022 21:45

Have you got a photo of the receipt? I added that in my head to £25ish but I shop bottom shelf even at aldi

FelicityBeedle · 02/07/2022 21:45

Oh just seen no receipt.

Hophop26 · 02/07/2022 21:46

Blinkingbatshit · 02/07/2022 21:29

Wow, £219 for 3 weeks for 5 of you?!! You’re doing waaaaay better than me - does that include lunches too? I think I need to come to you for training….!!

I thought the same! Agreeably it’s probably 20% more than would have cost for same shopping a year ago but £219 for 5 people for 3 weeks I would be thinking I had done well, I’m happy if I can keep it at £120 for 4 people a week at the moment

Mistlewoeandwhine · 02/07/2022 21:47

£30

RJnomore1 · 02/07/2022 21:47

If this is true it’s £25 at asda

m I have the screen shot showing the rest too if anyone doubts it

£30 with the extras. Things like yoghurt and garlic bread can both range in price from 30p/40p up to £1 or more so could cost even more or quite a bit less depending what types you are buying.

Lovelydovey · 02/07/2022 21:52

£29.54

MiniPiccolo · 02/07/2022 21:53

My guess is £44.

Eatthecake80 · 02/07/2022 21:53

That should of been £25!tops!

washingwakeup · 02/07/2022 21:53

I've put all of that in my Tesco basket, and even with Uncle Bens micro rice at £1.25 each x 3, it still comes in at under £36.

PoleFairy · 02/07/2022 21:54

That seems a lot! £45 does 2 of us a week shop breakfast, lunch and dinner!
