To need a side hustle

NeedMoreMoneyMoney · 02/07/2022 13:59

I'm struggling financially due to my child's nursery fees going up along with all the other living expenses going up.

I work part time as a counsellor about 20 hours a week. I can't do anymore as it's very draining but time wise I can do another day or two of work.

I don't know what though. I feel like I've got so many restrictions due to my skill set. I can't deliver training or do group therapy as I struggle socially with groups.

Please can you give me some ideas for a side hustle or part time work. It doesn't have to be related to counselling.

Thanks! And sorry for posting in aibu for traffic.

I make printables that sell on etsy it's not a huge earner, but once you've made them and uploaded them you don't have to do anything else.

Could you make some counselling related resources if that is your area.

Hi OP - support worker role?

NeedMoreMoneyMoney · 02/07/2022 14:35

@Singleandproud yes this is exactly the sort of thing I need to do.

I've not really used Etsy so I will take a look.

Pet feeding.

I know someone has suggested retail, but most retail are really only interested in people with very flexible hours, so be mindful of that if you do go down that route.
What about dog walking or maybe cleaning, you could possibly find someone that wants a cleaner once or twice a week.

Market research? I've done 6 in 3 months and got £550

Singleandproud · 02/07/2022 15:14

@needmoremoneymoney I'm a teacher so have made a few accessible worksheets - just playing around really over the Easter holidays, will look at it more seriously over the summer.

People who do well selling printables seem to use Canva or illustrator to make artwork or wedding place numbers etc that can be printed at home or by a proper print shop. They seem to price fairly low but have a high number of sales.
If you have IT skills perhaps making attractive flowcharts on how to carry out certain functions so someone could print it off as an easily accessible 'How To' guide with screen shots. I think an excel one might go down well.

There are lots of videos on how to start selling printables on YouTube. I'm not saying they will be a huge moneymaker but once you've made and uploaded them that's all you've got to do (and refresh the sales listing every few months).

If you go down the road of dog-walking or pet-care, you must have the appropriate insurance in place, and ideally have some knowledge of canine first aid, canine law and body language.

Looking after someone else's pets is a huge responsibility.

Cleaning.
Delivering parcels or food.
Dog walking.
Mowing.

And it wouldn’t be MN without the obligatory mention of “ironing”.

Don't forget to check your loyalty points if things get really bad!

There is a £10 a day thread in money, or Calamity Coins website has a bunch of side hustles ideas and start up guides.

I do advert rating, surveys and a but of match betting.

Onlinetherapist · 02/07/2022 15:24

Would you consider raising your hourly rate? That’s what I’ve had to do and clients who are able to pay will.

19lottie82 · 02/07/2022 15:26

Matched betting

A side hustle is normally something that comes from you, ie something your good at or enjoy doing.

I have a side hustle i started from my own idea. I got it up and running nobody else had done it or thought of it, im still working on it and slowly its growing. It has to come from you really.

Moneygoals2022 · 02/07/2022 15:32

I do surveys, videos and stories with streetbees.I get £20-25 weekly,£5 for each friend referral and you get £20 for each 35 min zoom call/discussion you do.
onelink.to/streetbees with referral code 73773X if this would be of use to you.I also joined qmee which is surveys again that someone else recommended on the money boards for extra survey money. There are loads of other great sites and ideas on the £10 a day thread over on money matters x

Bar work if it fits in with your childcare. I barely walk past a pub or bar these days that doesn’t have vacancies.
