Bit embarrassing but at least this is anonymous.

I’ve got a really hairy chin. I’ve tried threading, waxing, tweezing, shaving. Everything. No matter what I do, it’s spikey again 12 hours later and I have obvious stubble growth the next day. I know shaving isn’t ideal but even when I got it waxed/plucked/threaded it still had obvious growth by the next day so no matter what I do I need to do it again the next day and obviously shaving is the only thing I can do everyday.

am I missing a trick? Does anyone else have this and have a good way of managing or stopping the hair growth? It’s dark so obvious against my pale skin. I can’t keep shaving everyday but I also can’t walk about with black stubble and hairs and the stubble is obvious again just 12 hours after shaving/ waxing/ threading etc! I’m so embarrassed and fed up with this. Any advice would be really appreciated x

Following, as I wish I knew the answer! I wax and supplement with tweezering between.

A friend of mine has areas lasered and says over time that has helped, as the hair doesn’t grow back as noticeable, or as quick. Lots of salons offer laser hair removal.

Laser

Sceptre86 · 30/06/2022 23:01

I tweezer. I'm not too sure if laser would be as effective on my asian skin. Sympathies, it's shit.

I also meant to add- I get the same kind of hairs spanning from my jaw to where my hair starts (basically side burns starting from my jawline), patches on my neck, and all around my abdomen and belly button. No matter how I try and deal with it, the stubble and regrowth is back 12 hours later x

I have PCOS so have a hairy chin too. I pluck every day. Sometimes twice. Usually while I'm watching tv in the evening, with my phone torch & a magnifying mirror lucky DH

I feel your pain.

GrumpyPanda · 30/06/2022 23:05

Electrolysis. Somewhat unpleasant and will take several sessions. You'll also have to let them grow out enough first to prepare for treatment. BUT it does take care of the problem once and for all.

minuette1 · 30/06/2022 23:12

Phillips Lumea has been great for me, I used to carry tweezers wherever I went but I don't need to any more. It took about 8 weeks if I remember correctly and I have the app so it reminds me when I need to do a maintenance treatment.

Rainbowx · 30/06/2022 23:15

Same here have pcos shave it daily sometimes x2 a day I feel your pain.

dustandroses · 30/06/2022 23:15

My DD has PCOS the Philips Lumea has been a game changer.
She had to persevere though.

Gnr24 · 30/06/2022 23:40

My daughter had this problem and tried everything to no avail, like you hers grew back within hours. She is now halfway through laser ice therapy and it's changed her life.
It's very expensive it's an 8 week course but after first treatment her hair took 3 weeks to grow, now it's almost gone just the odd few but she still has 3 treatments left.
It's amazing to see the difference in her confidence.

YungDumbThrills · 30/06/2022 23:41

Phillips IPL, pricey but absolutely worth it!!

HoneyFlowers · 30/06/2022 23:52

Yep I am exactly the same, PCOS diagnosed too. I spent hundreds on laser, but it all eventually came back. I just shave every morning, too much to pluck out.

BorisJohnsonsvomitbucket · 30/06/2022 23:57

I tweezer at the moment but yours sounds more prolific than mine OP. I think I'm pre-menopausal. Anyway, an acquaintance swears by electrolysis, but it can hurt and leave marks for a few days afterwards.

MoHunter · 30/06/2022 23:57

Electrolysis 100%... it's the only permanent hair removal method. Takes time, money, many sessions, but it is worth it. Laser didn't work for me (only temporary results). Shaving/waxing made it worse.
And I'd only use an accredited practitioner from the BIAE.

But, seriously, electrolysis has changed my quality of life.

dontblameme · 01/07/2022 00:00

I had laser but it grew back within 3 years. Now using a Philips Lumea which I got off marketplace and tweezing in between. Good luck!
