To Ask the Easiest Way to 'Park and Ride' into London?

So I live in the midlands and my 4 year old wants to go to London. We already have a day booked at Legoland Windsor (we will be driving) but wondered what the options are for getting into London? Ideally, somewhere we can park and jump on a train. It will be a Saturday we go to London and will be in a hotel near Windsor but happy to drive for a good place to park.

Thanks in advance

Could you not just get a train from Windsor? It’s straight to waterloo in an hour and the. You’re in walking distance of Big Ben, Buckingham palace, southbank, Trafalgar Square.

Get the m4 into Osterley and park right by the tube station. Costs about £4 to park I think on the weekend for all day.

It's easy to get the train from Windsor to London. If you want to drive closer try using the 'just park' app and park on a driveway near a tube (Ealing would be good).

BrownTableMat · 30/06/2022 20:00

I’d also just get a train in from Windsor

ElspethBoomingHowsen · 30/06/2022 20:00

We are happy to get the train from Windsor if there is parking nearby?

Hillingdon tube station is about £3 to park but probably about an hour to most central stations, could be quicker to get a train from somewhere further out?

Cockfosters car park is pretty good, straight into town no worries

Yeah because she's going to drive from Windsor to Cockfosters Hmm

Get the train from Windsor
Drive to Staines and park outside station in car park.

Train in from Windsor. Nothing will beat that if you are already parked in London.

If you weren't already committed to Windsor then there are options elsewhere - some of the end of the line tube stations have big car parks.

This looks very doable. Thank you!

Where is your hotel? Parking in Windsor all day will be expensive so another station may be better.

However check the train service for engineering works, and don't use it if there are any rail replacements (SWR).

Tube from Osterley, park in the station car park, is a good option.

Floralnomad · 30/06/2022 20:32

If you have a bit of time you could drive and park at the O2 , that way you could go up to London on the clipper or even have a go on the cable car .

Bluevelvetsofa · 30/06/2022 20:36

Does the hotel have parking. I ask because the cost of parking in Windsor is prohibitive.

ElspethBoomingHowsen · 30/06/2022 20:45

Yes I have a hotel with free parking, it was a must! Hotel is in Slough

OP posts:
ShaunaTheSheep · 30/06/2022 20:47

Fast train from Slough would be a good option.

Queenoftheashes · 30/06/2022 20:55

Train from slough. Do not drive to the O2. Jesus. If you were to park in London I’d look at CPZs around Acton and Ealing and park in the street somewhere west off the m4.

Havanananana · 30/06/2022 21:07

Not a good suggestion if the OP is already in Slough. The O2 is the other side of London from there.

Bighairydogs · 30/06/2022 21:09

I don’t think some people have any concept of geography at all - who would drive from Windsor to the O2?!

Daisy38 · 30/06/2022 21:30

Train in from Slough is really easy. You can get into Paddington from there and then just walk or take the underground wherever you want to go once you’re in London.

QforCucumber · 30/06/2022 21:36

We got the train from Paddington to Slough yesterday - it took 30 mins, direct and really easy!

Moonshine5 · 30/06/2022 21:39

Park in Iver (for free) and get the Queen Elizabeth line to Bond St. 30 mins I think, someone was telling me. Iver is near Windsor maybe 15-20 mins drive

The Elizabeth Line isn't open at Bond Street yet.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/06/2022 22:27

The premier inn in Slogh is walking distance to the station I think. Or it's an easy bus ride to Windsor to get the train.

ShaunaTheSheep · 30/06/2022 22:47

If you are in Slough you wouldn't travel to Windsor to get a slower train!

Dishwashersaurous · 30/06/2022 22:49

Fast train from Slough will be by far the quickest
