Just had the 3rd huge one in as many days. Actually cannot cope. Usually I don’t have to worry about them until at least end of July/ August 😫 Early this year!!

Indorex is your friend. I was told about it 2 years ago and have used it since, I’ve not seen a spider since I started using it.

Summerdayzhaze · 26/06/2022 19:50

I actually do use Indorex and you’re right, it definitely makes a difference, I haven’t really sprayed this year yet as I don’t normally start until July as they don’t usually start appearing around here until at least the end of July. Last year was the best year, only saw one!

Just gone round and sprayed Indorex into every nook and cranny 😬It doesn’t help that DH keeps leaving all the windows wide open all night ‘because of the heat’ I do notice we get them more if we leave windows open in the evening. I just hate them, they’re huge and I have a genuine phobia 😫

sending thoughts and prayers… I bloody HATE them. Lol

Yodaisawally · 26/06/2022 20:04

We had one in the bedroom the other night, it was fucking huge, I've never seen such a big spider. DH managed to get it and put it outside. I'm sure he or she came straight back in.

Lachimolala · 26/06/2022 20:05

Another vote for indorex. I’ve had two big ones already in the last few weeks, I’ve just pulled all the furniture out in my room (seems to be a hotspot for them) and given it all a good spray.

Phrenologistsfinger · 26/06/2022 20:07

I love spiders, they keep the mozzies away and I am allergic. I welcome them as little corner pets. Send them all to me!

also without the work spiders do eating the insect population, I read that we would all basically be neck deep in other insects - creepy! It’s an ecosystem and they are part of it.

Tell me more about indorex! Isn’t it a flee spray? In which case is it a general insecticide that also gets spiders?

2reefsin30knots · 26/06/2022 20:11

We've had a couple of years without any really big ones. I wondered if they had stayed home for covid. Sounds like this year they might be back.

We spent 18 months living quite rurally once. F*ck me, the spiders that came in off the fields in the autumn were as big as dogs. I'm pleased to be back in town where they don't seem to get quite so huge.

Summerdayzhaze · 26/06/2022 20:14

Glad it’s not just this house!

@2reefsin30knots , we live rurally backing onto fields….they’re so big 😭😭

We had a massive one on the stairs last night. Seems really early this year.

HairyScaryMonster · 26/06/2022 20:18

My dd mentioned a spider had done down the sofa cushion, ah I'm sure it'll be a tiny money spider let me look, face inches from the cushions and this bruiser scuttles out. I scream (not usually that pathetic but it shocked me) and hid on the stairs with DD who I'd scared into crying too while DH dealt. It's usually me that gets shot of them!

IvysMum12 · 26/06/2022 20:34

Indorex is fatal to bees.

Strugglingtocopewithmarriage · 26/06/2022 20:39

I'm sorry OP

we also love quire rurally which worries me

I might have to get some Indorex

is that the stuff you spray and then have to leave the house for a few hours but then you're set til next year?

Want2beme · 26/06/2022 20:50

Love spiders. Won't have a word said against themGrin Please don't do them

It’s a flea spray that I used to use when we had cats, I randomly discovered lots of dead earwigs and humongous spiders after using it for the first time years ago. Ever since then I’ve always got a can in the house and I spray the whole house in every nook and cranny twice a year. It keeps the monstrous ones at bay.

Bobbins36 · 26/06/2022 20:56

Yes! Early this year, whoppers they are 😱

AugustSeptemberOctober · 26/06/2022 21:07

Yes, I've never seen so many huge ones as I have this year, and especially not so early! I'm a bit scared of spiders. The other day I shouted for DH to come and remove yet another one for me. He came in muttering about how pathetic I was being... Then shrieked when he saw it! Even he had to admit "wow that is bloody massive" Grin

thenightsky · 26/06/2022 21:14

DH was hoovering today and said the biggest one he'd ever seen in all his (65) years ran across his path! He's not prone to exaggeration either.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 26/06/2022 21:17

Not seen any yet this year. Maybe the cat is eating them Grin

GaslitlikeaVictorianparlour · 26/06/2022 21:37

The great big Mindflayer ones aren't out here yet. I've only got the ones that look like wee dots with big long, thin spindly legs floating about at present and some of the small chunky ones.

I love them - I've swiped left otherwise nice men because on their OLD profiles they offer to throw spiders out 😁

Hibiscrubber · 26/06/2022 21:42

No householders here, but I have many other types. Mostly false widows, but also ninja ones that jump and not run

user143677433 · 26/06/2022 21:48

Ugh - going to have to leave this thread as it’s giving me the creeps! Going to get some indorex though.

I do wonder if they are early or late? We usually get them mid May, and then late Sept/Oct. I thought I had just lucked out with not seeing them in May.

there’s going to be a huge one on the stairs tonight isn’t there? 😫😅

SunflowerGardens · 26/06/2022 21:50

I was going to write a post about this! My house is full of spiders at the minute. Usually we have a few long term residents stationed about but these new ones are big and stupid, one fell off the wall the other day Confused

pushingpoppies · 26/06/2022 22:31

Bit of an overreaction. But hey, if you want to be spraying and breathing in chemicals in your homes for the sake of some harmless critters, knock yourself out...

pushingpoppies · 26/06/2022 22:32

What's with living rurally and being scared of spiders? Surely you should appreciate their natural pest control more?
