That something bad will happen. Does anyone else have this ? How can this go away ? Sorry for posting here. I thought I would get quick replies.

Yes, that's anxiety.

toddlerdrama · 24/06/2022 13:45

Me too!

RollOnWinter · 24/06/2022 13:45

Anxiety. I get it every day Sad. Even when I'm having a lovely time with my family, I suddenly feel so sad and want to cry. I don't know what the answer is. I'm waiting for CBT (been waiting 3 months now)

CuteNFluffy · 24/06/2022 13:45

Anxiety. It's crap.

Plump82 · 24/06/2022 13:46

As everyone else has said, anxiety. I deal with it by using CBD oil.

No, you need to see your GP and get some help.

orwellwasright · 24/06/2022 13:48

Yep. I've had the feeling that I'm under imminent threat for about 40 years. Anxiety innit.

LazyJayne · 24/06/2022 13:51

Yes, Citalopram has helped me. Hasn’t got rid of it completely, but has made it come much less often and when it does come it feels sort of ‘further away’ so I recognise it as a passing feeling rather than an all consuming state of being

What do you do with the oil out of interest?

I sometimes get this but am getting better st it.

JolieJ · 24/06/2022 13:55

Yep anxiety, I'm on meds and they really help

JolieJ · 24/06/2022 13:56

Or alternatively, Ashwaganda can help for low level anxiety too

creamwitheverything · 24/06/2022 13:56

Please don;t ignore OP. If something isn;t right and causing you to feel not right you need to work out what it is and try to deal with it. I am a great advocat for your body being brilliant for letting you know when something or situation isnt right for me. I would sit down with a pen and piece of paper and quietly and calmly try to go through all aspects of your life and see if anything stands out as not quite comfortable ,so maybe work, family, finances anything really.Once you identify what it is thats making you feel uneasy then you have a starting point to work from to try to change it to make you feel better, Good luck x

AgathaBrazen · 24/06/2022 13:58

I use propranolol (beta blocker). You don't need to take it all the time. I just take one when I'm feeling particularly bad and they work in about 10 minutes.

My main worry is my DD. That something may happen to her. I'm starting counselling next week for PND anyway. I'll bring it up. It must be linked then. I was paying a lot of attention to it lately and then I realised it's probably linked. It creeps up on me.

I've used that before when I felt like I couldn't take a deep breath. This went on for ages and then I started consciously breathing strangely because I was concentrating so much on it. Then my diaphragm actually started hurting. The beta blocker really helped. I had never considered that it could help with this feeling something bad might happen.

I'm like this. I wake up with it, then it fluctuates throughout the day but is always there. If I stop worrying about one thing, I move to another. And when there's nothing to worry about I'm worrying that's there something I should be worrying about.

toddlerdrama · 24/06/2022 13:45

I just need to ignore it then right ?

I mean by this, to recognise it for what it is and try and ignore / embrace it, because it's just a feeling and not a reflection of reality.

This suddenly waves up at me when I'm otherwise cheerful. A sick sense of dread. Mostly centred on the not-great relationship between partner and adult DD.
But it can also come from looking at busy places and wondering how the hell it all keeps going !
I suspect menopause so am trying for some HRT this week.

I'm sorry you feel that way too! It's horrible! For me it's basically any time my DD is at nursery or when she's asleep in her own bed and I'm not in the room with her.

She sleeps on her own and goes to nursery, but I feel more relaxed when I sleep in her room ( which I only do when she's sick or upset ) and when she's at home with me and not at nursery.

Yes....for years, I call it my 'impending doom' feeling.
Had CBT about 5 years ago as was always worrying about DS17 and 'what if...' scenarios every single time he went out.

I did try citalopram but it made me feel so awful....nauseous and fatigued after 2 days I stopped it.

I have very bad attacks at night (this is the weird bit) I'll be dreaming and feel for my wedding band (this has huge sentimental value) with my thumb, but sometimes I must do this with my right hand and feel there's no ring and at this point I wake up, heart pounding, often sitting bolt upright....it's absolutely horrible and I hate it...really, really hate it.
Tbh I don't know what to do.

BabyofMine · 24/06/2022 14:46

It can have a physical cause though. For example anxiety can be caused by heart disease. Although that sounds really scary and horrible, when the person I knew had it identified they had heart disease and started taking medication, the anxiety feelings went away basically overnight. I just thought I’d mention as some sort of physical cause is always possible. If you have PND though I think it’s very likely to be connected with that.

MolliciousIntent · 24/06/2022 14:51

@peachescariad you have to push through the side effects, should only take a few weeks.

denbigh · 24/06/2022 15:30

So sorry OP, I'm the same been on Citalopram for years, I end up with IBS wanting to "go" all the time so following this thread with interest..@Plump82 may I ask what CBD you use and the timeline from taking to relieving these feelings.. ?
