Daughter been invited to a party at a trampoline Park and its 3 hour with 2 hour jumping and food. The mum said a couple of mums jumping too but I'm not. Is 9 old enough to stay at party on her own? Thanks

Of course!!

GoingOnce · 23/06/2022 14:35

Although 2 hours jumping seems a lot.

CoffeeAndTV1 · 23/06/2022 14:36

Yes, I think 9 is fine to leave at a party. Unless she's particularly anxious or something.

TheGriffle · 23/06/2022 14:36

I wouldn’t we stayed with my 9 year old at a similar party and we were needed as were tiger parents who also stayed. If she hurts herself etc she’s need you there.

Flowerymess · 23/06/2022 14:36

Yes definitely old enough.

Mariposista · 23/06/2022 14:47

of course it is!

Gunpowder · 23/06/2022 14:51

I would leave my seven year old at a party like this. Absolutely at nine!

emmathedilemma · 23/06/2022 14:52

I’m more shocked that you even have to ask this! Of course it is.

altiara · 23/06/2022 14:54

Yes

Justcallmebebes · 23/06/2022 14:56

9? Yes, of course

stayathomer · 23/06/2022 14:57

We are careful strict fussy etc but personally I think 8 on is fine as long as you’ve given them your phone number and put sunscreen on if they need it

Meowser72 · 23/06/2022 15:00

I left my daughter at a trampoline party when she was 8. It was fine. Though 2 hours is quite long - this party was 2 hours as well and they were all a bit tired and emotional at the end!

I would.mot.leave an under 12 on their own. I have seen accidents happen including a broken wrist.

How would you being there stop a broken wrist?

Personally, I hate trampolines and trampoline parks, many councils are withdrawing planning permission for them because of liability issues.

noscoobydoodle · 23/06/2022 15:05

I would provided my DD was happy for me to leave her and the mum/dad/adult at the party had my number in case of an accident or problem. I wouldn't plan to be too far away in case of an emergency.

CuteOrangeElephant · 23/06/2022 15:06

I left my 4 year old alone at a party, and so did all the other parents! She had a grand old time bowling and playing minigolf.

If you are worried about the trampoline jumping just go to a nearby Costa or something so you can be there quickly should something go wrong.

I agree with caring whilst it wouldn't stop it from happening having your parent there to deal with it is massive.

I have allowed mine to go to trampoline parties but I'd never host my own and be responsible!

clary · 23/06/2022 15:12

I don’t like trampoline parties, so dangerous, but a 9yo is plenty old enough to stay at a party on their own.

I left mine from age 5 #slackmum

SalmonEile · 23/06/2022 15:22

I’m on the fence because a regular party 9 is fine to leave but a trampoline party poses a risk ,
if some of the other mums are jumping id be concerned because they shouldn’t be jumping on the same trampolines as the kids as the difference in weight can cause accidents
if you were there you can’t tell the other mums what to do but you can tell your own kid to come away from an area that’s too busy
That said a kid can be hurt at soft play or a bouncy castle party of course I suppose

CocoC · 23/06/2022 15:30

At my kids school we will leave kids alone at a party (obviously supervised) from age about 5!

CocoC · 23/06/2022 15:31

Everyone around me leaves their kids at parties from age about 5!

Surely party mum/dad rings you and then you take them to A and E? You being there won't stop accidents.

Greatauntdymphna · 23/06/2022 15:36

9?!
The general rule here was that they were left alone at parties from year 1.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 23/06/2022 15:38

Other types of party, yes, but trampoline park, no. Just because if something goes wrong, it goes really, really wrong. I would want to be there, not racing to the hospital to meet my child in A&E.

There'll be a cafe in the trampoline place, just go sit with a coffee.

DD has been to a few trampoline park parties this year (and had one herself). Standard practice round here is parents stay and party host sticks all the coffees on a tab.

No, but lots of primary-aged DC wouldn't want to be comforted by a friends' parent - they'd want mum/dad.
