2, the style and pose are more interesting

Daffodilsdance · 22/06/2022 12:46

Both . I would have to have them side by side in a big frame .

sodabreadjam · 22/06/2022 12:48

I would have said no. 1 because it is a more interesting and technically difficult pose, but I feel there is something odd about the left eye - unless of course your cat actually looks like that.

The sleeping pose is lovely, but it could be any ginger cat asleep - does it really look like your cat? If so, choose that one.

mumu54 · 22/06/2022 12:50

2

Littlebirdyouaresosweet · 22/06/2022 12:52

Are they yours op? I would love a dcat pic of my sadly departed dcat....

1

LetsGoWithTheFlo · 22/06/2022 13:04

Both are really lovely, but I would pick 2 because of the pose.

Yes, it's the eye that is putting me off 1. So it's a vote for 2 here.

parietal · 22/06/2022 13:11

definitely 2

The paintings belong to a friend. I suppose she got what she paid for then. No 2 was £70, the second was free!

Sorry no 1 was free

2 for me

SurferRona · 22/06/2022 13:17

Figures. 2 is good, well observed. Worth paying for. 1 isn't. Not v good. Eyes are wonky. The painter there painted what they knew was there as opposed to what they really see. I'd have said artist has not so good observational skills, but no2 is ace!

KarmaStar · 22/06/2022 13:22

Number one.🐈
Number two looks like he's passed away (sorry)

dingit · 22/06/2022 13:31

Time to confess that I did no1, glad to see some like it but a lot think it’s pants!
I only asked as I gave it to my friend, she then told me she paid for a professional one which upset me a bit sad 😂
I can see what people mean about the eye, annoyingly I don’t have the original photo so can’t check. I did have tutor overseeing so they might have pointed it out! The paws, I think sometimes rush to get a piece finished!

two is technically better but 1 is a really decent go if you’re fairly new to painting. Get your sketch/under painting bang on accurate before you start adding colour, and attend carefully to tone as well as colour so you get a bit more depth/dimensionality. It wants to feel like a sculpted form rather than a coloured-in drawing, if that makes sense?

Not particularly new to painting, I guess it's literally back to the drawing board for me.

well I think 1 is a great picture, but there is something that captures the essence of the cat more in 2 for me.

Having said that, every cat is different, so it would be probably about which one looked more like MY cat.

I agree! Much prefer no.1 for the same reason. There's no character in a dead sleeping cat. It's not even curled up, it's just led there

Sebastianthecoo · 22/06/2022 13:53

Before I saw your update I was going to say 1, it looks like someone’s pet so I wouldn’t have it unless it was my pet. However if I was the type of person to hang pictures of random cats then 2 would be the natural choice.

your very talented!

FreestyleInTrance · 22/06/2022 13:53

I prefer 1 (although both are great!), 2 is a cute pose but it looks more stylised / generic, whereas 1 looks more realistic to me (although without a photo of the actual cat I suppose this could be wrong!). As a cat owner I'd prefer one in the style of 1 that was identifiably my cat, not just a cat that looks a bit like mine!

Howyoualldoworkme · 22/06/2022 13:55

I draw animals myself and I prefer 2 🙂
