Screeching kids in bar

We are on holiday at a 5 star well known luxury brand of hotels. No kids with us. Hotel is known for being child friendly - no problem, there are adult only areas. Except on an evening where there is only one bar. Last night (and most nights) there were around 10 kids running around the bar, chasing each other, running through people's tables, almost knocking waitresses over. AIBU to think it's not acceptable to sit getting pissed while your kids bother other guests?

Yes I know we could have gone to an adults only hotel, but just because we didn't, it doesn't mean we should have to put up with unruly kids.

@HandbagsnGladrags that’s even more frustrating. If they’ve had similar complaints before then why the heck aren’t they doing anything about it??

This drives me crazy and I say this as a parent of a 4 year old.

Dh and I went for a few afternoon drinks on Saturday, as we had a babysitter and were both driven nearly insane by other people's kids shouting, running around and generally creating a nuisance in what should be adult areas (i.e. pubs that don't do food or have a limited menu). All the while the parents are sitting at the opposite end of the bar, enjoying a few drinks completely oblivious.

At one point I said to DH that we shouldn't have gone to the hassle of arranging a babysitter - there's no way that DS would've been in the same league of poor behaviour.

Sounds harsh, but when you become a parent, you days of getting smashed in a bar during the afternoon, or staying out until late getting pissed on holiday should be over.

If you can't control your kids you really shouldn't take them into a bar, even if it is a family friendly one.

I think Ikos does an adults only hotel, or check out its sister brand Sani which definitely does.

I hope your holiday went well other 🦕hand that I experienced this when I was on a cruise with my husband we were sitting when kids came running past playing tag! Yanbu.

Strictly adults only cruising for us now. One I went on some years ago one of the three pools was meant to be adults only but parents still used it.
