To think that if a soft play is going to charge for adults, they should at least provide free WiFi?

Local cheap soft play has been taken over by some big regional chain. They've added a few elements but not enough to justify the fact that they now charge double (and double what others charge).

Of course, dc begged to go as its "got x and y now mum" so finally I've bit the bullet and taken her and her friend.

They charge £2 on top for me to be here and don't even provide any WiFi. The girls are old enough that they don't care if I'm here or not; so I'm paying for the privilege of disinterested parental responsibility, and have to use my own precious data instead Grin

Clearly its a first world problem. But it's cheeky fuckery right?

No it’s an independent one that can be found in Weston Lincolnshire.

It also has laser tag and an outdoor climbing centre similar to that of Go Ape at additional prices.

Its called Fun Farm

How do you cope in playgrounds with no WiFi code

What is it with MN lately? So many angry posts this weekend but this one takes the biscuit.

Did you type that with steam coming out of your ears? 😂😂😂

Yes!😀

Momicrone · 11/06/2022 17:40

Surely it's the op with steam coming out of her ears cos she's got to pay £2 and has no WiFi!

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 11/06/2022 17:56

Adults have to pay! Sod that

No reasonable person follows a 10 year old around soft play unless they have sn

Momicrone · 11/06/2022 18:02

Moithered - I know, it's funny

Longleggedgiraffe · 11/06/2022 18:09

Why shoud they? It's an amusement area for kids, not adults. You should be able to amuse yourself without, for an hour or two in between keeping an eye on the kids.

alwaysraining123 · 11/06/2022 18:12

No, another reason for parents not to watch their children properly.

Sunnytwobridges · 11/06/2022 18:14

When mine was young, and before wifi was widely available I would take a book to read. Or I would call a friend up and chat or listen to music.

Playgrounds aren't charging me to be there.

I find it really depressing that people are insisting children should be hovered over throughout soft play - as far as I can see its about the only place most children get where they are allowed unsupervised and non-adult-led physical play. It's so important and we've completely stripped out of most childhoods.

Oysterbabe · 11/06/2022 18:18

I paid this week £17 to go to softplay. Me, a 4 and 6 year old. And then the same again for snacks and coffee while there. It's a lot but worth it for a couple of hours where they leave me alone 😅

Play doesn’t have to be adult led at all, but at least watch what they’re doing. I never dictate how my kids play. I know where they are though.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 11/06/2022 18:19

I used to love taking mine to softplay; I'd get loads of knitting done. Now I'm constantly interrupted by teenage starvation problems...

I find it depressing that adults are complaining about no Wi-Fi at a soft play. Read a book, magazine or do nothing. It's possible.

Sbena · 11/06/2022 18:26

Hahahaha I'm really excited to take my baby to soft play for the first time. I'm also a bit outraged that there's a charge for adults!! Like yes, I'm a big kid and going to have a ball, but we're not here for me!

Oysterbabe · 11/06/2022 18:27

I do not follow my 4 and 6 year old round. They know where I am love to come running back to grass up badly behaved children at the first sign of trouble.

Silverswirl · 11/06/2022 18:28

Hugasauras · 11/06/2022 15:49

Not unless I physically follow her inside the massive apparatus and climb into the bowels of the soft play. And no one wants a 36yo woman built for comfort instead of speed trying to climb up something designed for a 6yo.

Omg absolutely hilarious. The bowels of the soft play. So true and so funny.
Posters saying ‘you should watch your DD all round the soft play’ are so clearly mums of pre schoolers. Wait until your child is 8/9/10 and then come back and tell us you’ve followed them round the soft play. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

DS1 is 7 with hyperactive ADHD. I still watch him and know where he is. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah true. I actually love sitting in a soft play listening to the soothing sounds of all the other kids playing, staring at the cafe hatch, plastic chairs, soothing strip lighting and enthusiastic staff members. Far better than looking at rubbish on my phone.

Ok sure. I have 3. Try taking 3 kids aged 6-8 and tell me where they all are at all times. Would be an interesting watch.
Besides which most soft plays I go to you literally can’t see in past the first meter unless you are climbing in yourself which doesn’t help you when 3 kids all split up and run off in different directions.

Hugasauras · 11/06/2022 18:37

Just wait till your child hits 3 and every second weekend is someone else's party at the exact same soft play.

Mammyloveswine · 11/06/2022 18:38

SafelySoftly · 11/06/2022 15:46

How old is your daughter? Hasn’t she grown out of soft play if she’s at the age of demanding to go places?

What a ridiculous comment!!! My 4 year old has preferences! It's quite normal! Honest to god some of the stupid comments on this site these days...
