Regular poster but name-changed for obvious reasons.

I have been out of work for around 15 years. Firstly as a SAHM and then because of serious illness.

I have now been back looking for work for around 3 years, and tbh it is impossible.

I have a disability which rules me out of certain jobs such as supermarket or hospitality work or I would go and work there in a heartbeat.

And admin type roles are still the kinds of roles where we’re in an employer’s market, and I’m not even getting interviews.

I’ve had professionals look over my cv and applications, and they have all said there is no issue there so I can only assume that it’s because of the length of time I’ve been out of work compared to the fact that people who have been out of work for less time are far more common.

I am applying for entry level roles at this point, as I realise that my time out of the job market means that nobody will consider me for higher level roles such as I was doing before I left.

I have now resigned myself to the fact that I am just unemployable, but I am desperate to earn a living, and as degrading as it is I am seriously considering signing up to only fans?

I am nothing to look at, but I am told there’s a market for everything, so even though I’m definitely not model material, someone out there will likely pay, right?

Yes, I know it’s degrading, and I know that technically I shouldn’t want to do it and I don’t. But I literally don’t see any other choice at this point.

In my previous job I worked as a Finance manager in the public sector. I worked my way up from finance admin though and now most companies are looking for a finance qualification which I don’t have.

This could be your answer. Is there a local college offering a one year accounting or accounting technician course? This would get you a recent qualification and you’ll get references from the college.

Have to agree with a pp, I’ve never heard of anyone with 150 wpm typing!

You’re an editor, creator, promoter, accountant and more

You forgot the most important one - 'wank fodder'

Dress it up how you want. Empowering, feminist (lol), 'doing what I want when I want', #femaleboss etc., etc., but at the end of the day, whether you earn 20 pence, or £20,000 your 'job' is to tittalate males. That's it. Make their sad little cocks hard.

If they can get all kinds of fetish porn for free on the Internet, imagine what you would have to to to get them to pay for it.

If you think it's tough getting a job now, imagine if you put that on your CV.

Can't imagine a man with a disability, having a tough time finding a job, considering Only Fans as a viable career choice.

iamjustlurking · 12/06/2022 08:39

If your local hospital is anything like ours we are crying out for Admin staff.
During covid every role advertised attracted huge amounts of applicants, now strangely no-one keen to work in a stressful underpaid role dealing with frustrated patients who like to vent at you all day.
But our trust is very accommodating to any health restrictions and has many additional training opportunities and career progression.

You do realises there are plenty of woman, non binary etc people whom subscribe to these subscription sites.

It's comical that OF posts always have vanilla woman dragging out the fact that men subscribe to it but never mention any other person because it's another excuse to play the "woe is me men are all bad and it's not fair" card. God forbid a woman actually wants to do what SHE wants with HER body.

I don't have to "imagine" I know first hand, I've seen it! lots of subscribers wants a closer connection to those they subscribe to something you cannot get from other sites

You also forget the fact OF was created for the likes of celebrities, influences and professionals to showcase their work for a monthly price. It's full of chefs, gym buffs, bakers, models etc and more!

There are plenty of men and disabled men on OF to, god forbid 🙄

devonianBiatch · 12/06/2022 08:47

You don't need to do anything only fans etc. There are plenty of ways to improve your employment chances. You could do a course with the OU, go to an actual university this September ( lots take mature students without A levels) and claim student loans to support yourself.

I am 44 and been out of work for 18 years due child raising and then to sudden disability. In that 18 years I have trained as a TA, done a pt BA degree and gained a masters as well. I still can't work but am now looking at other courses to not only keep me busy, but to boost my self confidence and keep my brain sharp. The local college does LOADS of free level 2 courses in autism, end of life caring, fork lift truck driving, building sure safety etc. just go join a course. Be proactive and show employers that you are trying to do something .

Luckydip1 · 12/06/2022 08:49

Why don't you apply for a job with the NHS, they have 100,000 vacancies and are desperate for people. You will be helping people who are ill and working for an institution which provides plenty of holidays albeit not the best pay.

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 12/06/2022 08:59

Okay yes. Hundreds of thousands of women and non-binary people sign up 🙄 I'm sure. But please be truthful about the fact that if the male fan base wasn't there, paying for it, this would be a miniscule platform and probably wouldn't exist.

You can dress it up all you want as women doing what they want with their bodies - but this 'career choice' is all down to patriarchy.

The greatest trick the patriarchy ever pulled was telling women its empowering to sell their bodies for men's pleasure.

And also, using "vanilla" as an insult 🙄. Really?

couchparsnip · 12/06/2022 08:59

Have you tried Civil Service jobs. civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk/
There are tons of jobs on there and a lot of them are hybrid - so working partly at home. You can consider jobs a little further away if you don't have to travel in every day. Their apprenticeships are open to all ages so don't discount those. They only look at 'skills' and 'behaviours' - so gaps in employment don't matter. There are websites devoted to helping you write a good application too.

MissMaple82 · 12/06/2022 09:00

Go to college or university and get retrained with a new set of qualifications

It's really not an employer's market for admin. Every dept I know is struggling to get staff. No one applies for the jobs.

milkywithsixsugars · 12/06/2022 09:02

Are the finance qualifications you’d need something you’d be able to study for while you’re at home, or would they be on the job kinds of things? I did one when I was working (SAHM atm), put forward by my employer, but there were a couple of people I spoke to in my exam group who were doing it to bump up their CV. might be something to look into.
Not sure I’d do OF, especially not if you’re as horrified by the idea as you seem. I’d definitely look into something like call centre work, maybe in the finance sector, to get yourself back out there. Most places would give you full training, so no experience needed, and anywhere decent would have you do a DBS (or Scottish Disclosure if you were applying for a position in Scotland) if you’d had a significant break in your work history.
Good luck!

MissMaple82 · 12/06/2022 09:04

Theres also telesales, call handler jobs that don't need any experience with. Free online course to bulk up your CV? Or take up some form of voluntary work. Volunteering will always be respected on a CV. Sorry but I feel your making excuses, there's always ways to self improve.

Of course it would exist You literally choose to omit and forget the platform exists because it was used as I stated for celebrities, professional and others to showcase their work, family and life!

It was used for chefs and cooks to run tutorials, it was used for personal trainers to run sessions, Make up tutorials, insight into celebrity life. It's primary use was for non sex work so pull the other one 😂

You can't be mad about men telling woman what to do whilst also wanting to tell what other woman what to do 🙄 woman are allowed to love their bod, be proud of it publicly and want to show it off, men are allowed to love their body and want to showcase it.

Vanilla isn't an insult but if you choose to take it as one than that's on you.

You have been utterly brainwashed, and they love it.

Calmdown14 · 12/06/2022 09:12

There are many industries crying out for workers at the moment. Something is wrong in how you are applying for jobs.

Do you use the same CV for everything? When recruiting, I find it so frustrating when people haven't tailored it in any way to suit the skills we are after.

If it's care work, use the skills you have as a mother, that you understand the importance of routine, providing continuity of care, that you have a calm demeanor, are patient and attentive etc etc.

Just firing in a CV is really unlikely to get you anywhere.

Are there any courses you can do through the job centre? If not there are free platforms like Future Learn. The courses don't count for credit points as such but show a willingness to learn and give you something to reference or talk about.

Look for employers that have guaranteed interview for disabled candidates (you must still meet the basic criteria).

Apply for five jobs well rather than 50 badly.

MeiMe · 12/06/2022 09:13

@Galvanisa

😂😂😂

Calmdown14 · 12/06/2022 09:23

Sorry I didn't see your update on type of work.

You are probably falling into that awkward space of overqualified for more basic roles and lacking recent experience for higher.

The advice to tailor appropriately still applies. If it's a more junior role, tone down some of your more managerial experience and focus on the doing parts.

Write a covering letter to explain the shift in emphasis. People are nervous of ending up with someone who only sees the role as a stepping stone or managing someone with more experience than they have.
If you make the case you really want the job it helps immensely.

I'd spend a couple of days sectioning out your CV and application details so you can pick the most appropriate for the role and really focus on that.

And ask for feedback from the jobs you apply for

You need to see what support there is for finding you work experience. Once you have something on your CV recent you'll be fine.
Oldham have something called 'get Oldham working'
They find work experience and support people into work.

TheLadyDIdGood · 12/06/2022 09:35

You can filter these job sites to show remote only & hybrid jobs as well.

Newestname002 · 12/06/2022 09:42

@PotentialOnlyFansGirl

Are your technical skills up to date OP?! Eg: Microsoft Office, Excel, etc. if not would you consider training to bring them to date? Then consider, before doing Onlyfans or similar, doing temp Admin work and temp to permanent or maternity cover roles? That way you are getting a toehold back in the employment market and updating your skills at the same time. 🌹

TheLadyDIdGood · 12/06/2022 09:43

Also, contact your local voluntary sector hub for job and volunteer positions. They can help you match your CV to the different roles advertised.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/06/2022 09:46

Are you in the UK?
I’m confused by you saying that it’s an employer’s market, atm. Where we are, NW, businesses in every sector are desperate for staff.

Triselly · 12/06/2022 10:01

Don’t do it OP. Selling yourself, even if there’s no physical contact, is hugely risky (future employers/family finding out etc) and you will be adding to this culture that teaches girls and women that reducing themselves to wank fodder for filthy scrotes is a great path to take.

The ‘men’ using that site do not respect the women, and many actively try to sabotage the women’s lives by leaking their pictures/info.

The vast majority of women in there make less than 200 USD a month.
