It's June and I'm lighting a fire! Is it just me?!

I'm in Yorkshire and it's been warm enough to sit outside in just a T-shirt and trousers today but it's getting cooler now. I'm still outside, well, in the summerhouse, but am covered in a large quilted blanket as I'm feeling a bit chilly!

Threeboysandadog · 02/06/2022 19:48

It’s been a nice day in the Scottish Highlands. I got all my washing dry and still sitting in a t-shirt. It’s supposed to be nice all weekend.

Ha! You've all given me permission now.
I've made a fire but not lit it, being stoic with my fleeces on but if you're all having one I'm lighting mine.

😁

No, I’ve not lit a fire but I’ve been cold the last week. My son has too which is unusual. He’s been revising with his hood up. I turned the heating right down but it still came on the other morning as it had dropped low enough

North East Scotland and we sat out the back this afternoon in T-shirts and had washing on the line all day!

Yes but in Scotland we sit outside at 10 degrees as long as the sun is out. We are made of string stuff 🤣🤣

Wilkolampshade · 02/06/2022 20:58

On the scaffolding out front painting the house. Burnt the back of my neck and filler setting on record time. Probs 25?

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 02/06/2022 20:59

Baking in Cornwall today, we’ve been in swimwear on the beach all day.

SlatsandFlaps · 02/06/2022 21:20

Wow here in Northumberland it's red hot! Yesterday was 32°!! I got sunburnt and today has peaked at 21°. I live in North Yorkshire and am holidaying here. I looked on my Ring camera yesterday and couldn't believe that it was rainy and miserable back home! I'd expect the opposite.

Bumptious22 · 03/06/2022 01:13

Red hot? Northumberland? Now I'm properly feeling victimised by the weather!
Just looked and our region predicted ☔️ for the next week!!

I evidently need to relocate 🤔

Red hot in Northumberland? I live on Northumberland and it's been cold, raining and miserable all week. I work in a hotel and the guests have all complained it's freezing and I've give out every single heater and a load of blankets.

I don’t get the “it’s June” reference - surely you light a fire at any time that the temperature of the room you’ll be spending a few hours in has dropped to a level that you need to light one? If it’s above 16 degrees C in our house at Christmas, for example, I wouldn’t be lighting a fire, but if we were to experience a sudden chill in August, I would.

South Derbyshire here , not had a fire or heating on for weeks and weeks , yesterday was glorious and although bit of rain predicted next few days , still warm

Happy days

Guess it would depend if you had things ready for a fire in August? I don't put the heating on at random times April to September if it drops below 15 as I'd have to remember to shut all the windows and make sure DS knew not to open his or leave the back door open. He feels the cold less than me.

Oblomov22 · 03/06/2022 17:46

Not warm. Not impressed. We have just got back from our caravan in Dorset where we have been going for both may bank holidays for the last 15 years. normally / often it's absolutely boiling and we have to have all the caravan windows open and the fan on to keep it cool at night.

Not this time!

fussychica · 03/06/2022 17:56

In Suffolk last week in a caravan for a couple of days, chucking it down all the first afternoon and night. We had the fire on each evening and in the morning, bloody freezing.
Today it's mild but raining here in Wiltshire so inside again. Managed to sit outside for lunch yesterday which was a rare treat this year.

skybluee · 03/06/2022 18:26

It was warm this morning but gone really cold now unless it's just me. had to shut the windows! :(
