So sorry TMI, but can this really have happened?

I used a type of tampon today that I've never used before and i can't get it out, or even find it.

I'm worried I forgot to pull the strings before I inserted it. Or is possible that I've pushed it out when doing the loo earlier? Normally they move when too saturated and I can feel it, but not now.

What the hell do I do??

I actually can’t poo with a tampon in! It’s quite annoying as even if there is no straining they still end up at least coming out partway. I think it’s very likely it came out when you went to the toilet and you didn’t notice.

nurse popped two fingers inside me, said a breezy “ooooh it’s got far up hasn’t it!” and pulled it out.

Happens to the best of us. I put two in whilst drunk a few years ago. I felt like a magician the next day pulling hankies out of his sleeve. Except it was tampons out of a wizards sleeve.

Not necessarily. Tampons can sit to the back and side of the cervix. I used to work in an STI clinic, and was constantly surprised at where these buggers could hide!
Get to a walk-in centre or an STI clinic. The risk of infection is high with retained tampons (TSS), so better to check whether or not it dropped out when you had a bowel movement

I once read a story where a girl had forgot she had took hers out and therefore couldn't find it. She went to hospital and they done surgery but couldn't find it. Turns out she had took it out but had forgot. I think all of us (who use tampons) have at least once forgot we have taken them out. I would say it popped out when you were at the toilet or you removed it but just can't remember.
