London tube strike 6th June 2022

Posted in chat but reposting for traffic. Although AIBU that it's bloody unfair that this will be our first night away in years, the only night planned, and they pick that day to strike!

I'm from up north arriving at kings cross in the morning 6th June. I need to get to the O2 (going to see Queen) and am panicking now about how to get there. Looks like there will be no tube services due to a one day strike.
Having no experience of living and travelling in London I don't know whether I should be worried or not.

Can someone advise? Please

I’m going to see queen on the 5th, also arriving into kings cross. There will be buses, but Uber could be an option for you.

supadupapupascupa · 30/05/2022 18:36

I suggested that but with travel chaos who knows how long a taxi journey might take (and cost)

What's the best way of figuring a journey out? Honestly haven't a clue. Never even used an Uber!! How's that done?

It was meant to be so easy!!! KX then jubillee line.......

This could be an exciting journey - you could incorporate a boat and/or the cable car to get to the O2!

If you go on the TfL journey planner you can edit the preferences to take out the tube. North Greenwich is quite well connected really. There is the DLR and must be some overground trains too even if you need to get a bus after. Maybe a train st Pancras to London Bridge, another to Westcombe park and a short bus of Uber to the O2?

supadupapupascupa · 30/05/2022 18:36

Exciting haha we're terrified! Thank you will check that out

Thames link train from KC st Pancreas to Stratford international. takes five min.

108 bus towards Lewisham. Half an hour ish. Stops at North Greenwich station for O2.

Skinnermarink · 30/05/2022 18:38

*change at Stratford for bus obviously

knackered81 · 30/05/2022 18:38

Get the clipper!

Go on TfL or use the tflGo app then hide tube as an option.

Also download CityMapper app for when you are there to show next bus abs route plan etc

Have fun!

Dogsandbabies · 30/05/2022 18:38

Thameslink train KX to Greenwich. Then a relatively quick bus ride or Uber.

Drivingmisspotty · 30/05/2022 18:39

tfl.gov.uk

Here click on plan a journey and put in your starting station and destination. Click the plan a journey button. Once it has planned your journey you will see a little edit preferences url and you can remove tube.

edwinbear · 30/05/2022 18:40

Definitely the boat (Thames Clipper), you can have a pre show drink, whilst you cruise down the Thames taking in the sights!

supadupapupascupa · 30/05/2022 18:40

You guys are amazing thank you x

It's my birthday. Unlike this idea!!!

You could take a train (Thameslink) from St Pancras to London Bridge, and change there to a Southeastern train to Charlton. It's the nearest train station and you can take use Uber or another taxi to get from there to the O2.

I have a feeling a lot of people will be WFH if they possibly can so hopefully there won't be too much travel chaos.

It’s been cancelled I think? They regularly do end up cancelled and ime experience sone services nearly always still run in any case

Newnormal99 · 30/05/2022 18:43

I thought I heard it had been cancelled as well.

Womencanlift · 30/05/2022 18:43

Download the Citymapper app and put in to and from destinations. It will give you up to date travel info including time to destination and price

Incase the strike is cancelled just be aware that the Jubilee line is no where near Kings X. You will have to do a few changes, unless you mean you are going somewhere between arriving and heading to the O2

Enjoy the show but give yourself plenty of time to get there. London will be manic this weekend with or without a tube strike. There are plenty of places to eat and drink (and even shop) at the O2

supadupapupascupa · 30/05/2022 18:45

Ah yes we were planning a trip to liberty which obv us now cancelled.

Thank you!

Apologies I think it is just the mini strike on Friday that’s been cancelled. The Monday one still going ahead ( but will probably get cancelled)

supadupapupascupa · 30/05/2022 18:46

Fingers crossed!!!

The traffic along Trafalgar Road which runs from Greenwich itself (the main village) to North Greenwich where O2 is is always hellish so try to avoid a bus or cab from there if possible.

Clipper would def be best and you would just need to get down to the river - embankment - from KX which is fine and walkable if you've time.

Are you staying in KX? So need to get back from 02 afterwards too? More often than not these strikes are cancelled but at the very last minute.

supadupapupascupa · 30/05/2022 18:49

You lovely lot have no idea how appreciative I am right now Grin

No we're staying at the hotel international next to the O2 thankfully!
