Slightly light-hearted but also incredibly annoying!
we went for a roast dinner today, when it arrived there were no Yorkshire puddings and no stuffing (as per the menu). When i asked where these items were they went to check and came back to say you had run out.
no substitutes offered.
this just mars the whole experience but if you try and complain you’re instantly made to feel as though you’re making an issue out of something unnecessarily.
this is happening more and more often recently. Anyone else noticed this?

Friend and I went to a chain pub once, ordered a curry and chips. Took absolutely ages to appear and when it finally did they had clearly purchased the chips from the chippy next door to the pub 😂

eggsellentnetwork To be fair anchovies are an integral ingredient of ceasar salad dressing!

I once ordered an omelette breakfast in a Little Chef only to be told they had run out of omelettes, the waitress looked baffled when I said "so you've run out of eggs?"

Not necessarily. It's well known that Little Chefs omelettes were premade and heated to order.

They wouldn't have been allowed to make an omelette out of eggs, or possibly been able to - lack of a suitably sized pan for example. Plus you never know, the people employed to warm up the omelettes might not have known how to make one out of eggs.

I worked there in the 90s. Los of people wanted the omelette without mushrooms, we had to explain they were pre made so couldn't remove the mushrooms!

I went to a farm shop type motorway services on the way back from a trip at the weekend and got some lunch from their 'we make everything ourselves locally' restaurant. I ordered a burger which should have come with pickles, mustard, ketchup and lettuce but it was just a (very crumbly) burger with melted cheese on a plain bun. It was too busy to complain and I felt a bit petty querying the missing condiments but pickles are the best bit imo!
