Aibu or sold as seen?

Just sold my bugaboo cam 3 pram for £100 it had everything with it and extra set to change the colour in amazing condition with footmuff adapters etc! It's been sat in storage for a good 2 years. I could have sold for more but just wanted rid for space.

From the start I knew she would be fussy as she was asking if it had scratches on the frame or any marks on the fabric!

She sent her hubby to collect and he just took it didn't ask any questions. Now she wants to return as it's missing the bumper bar but is happy with the condition.

I know it's my fault as I didn't realise it was missing but they are very cheap on eBay to buy.

AIBU? Or just sold as I seen?

Caveat emptor.

block her.

Speakuptomakeyourselfheard · 28/05/2022 20:31

I certainly wouldn't be worrying about taking it back, if she was going to be that fussy should should have told her husband what questions to ask, or come herself. She didn't, so sold as seen. THE END!

Pipsickl · 28/05/2022 20:38

It’s sold as seen. Her problem. Block her and forget.

I hate people like this. Seriously do not lose sleep over it x

brusselsprout5 · 28/05/2022 20:45

Yep totally agree, sold as seen. Block. You sound like a lovely seller. There's always a CF buyer isn't there!?

Onemoresleeptogonow · 28/05/2022 20:52

Ime selling a pram is a disaster.. Sold - and delivered - a barely used fab pushchair
. Complete with hood and footmuff. She hounded me for the instructions.. Took that over. Then wanted to know how the footmuff front bit came off. The zipper system was one way... Apparently I should have said that as she wouldn't have bought it!!
Footmuff was unused.
Never again. Now have 7 unused pushchairs at home!!

Mamai90 · 28/05/2022 21:00

Not your fault, it's hers and her problem! Sold as seen and sounds like she got a bargain anyway.

Block.

Onwards22 · 28/05/2022 21:28

Did you say it included everything?

It sounds like it’s sold as seen but if the advert implied the bumper bar would be there then I get why she wants her money back.

To save any hassle I’d probably get her to return it and give her money back and then just re-sell it.

Useranon1 · 28/05/2022 21:40

Did you list the bumper bar as included?

How and why do you have 7 unused pushchairs?

terriblyangryattimes · 28/05/2022 22:38

If you didn't specify the bumper bar in description and it wasn't in photos she can jog on.

As a PP said selling buggies is a complete ballache, people are so fussy, or are scammers. We donated our last two to a women's shelter as the faff and drama wasn't worth it for 50 quid or whatever I'd have got for them.

Testina · 28/05/2022 23:22

“From the start I knew she would be fussy as she was asking if it had scratches on the frame or any marks on the fabric!“

Except you were wrong about that. Perfectly reasonable questions - and she hasn’t complained about that.

Was it reasonable from your advert and communications for her to expect the bumper bar to be included? “Sold as seen” really means the condition I think - not missing parts! Like the spare set of covers…. If you’d forgotten to hand her husband the bag and he didn’t known what he was collecting, and she asked to drop by for them, would you have said, “ha ha! Sold as seen!”?

So - given your advert, reason or not to expect the bumper bar?

Testina · 28/05/2022 23:25

”Just sold my bugaboo cam 3 pram for £100 it had everything with it and extra set to change the colour in amazing condition with footmuff adapters etc“

I’ve just googled “bugaboo bumper bar” thinking maybe it was some optional extra that I hadn’t heard of. Come on - that’s a pretty fundamental part of the pram! Even in your post here you’ve said the pram had “everything with it”! It didn’t. You’re taking the piss.

justasking111 · 28/05/2022 23:28

Well it was very cheap so sold as seen

Electriq · 28/05/2022 23:45

Are you sure it wasn't there and she just needed that part?

Is it in the photos?

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 28/05/2022 23:59

I think if it had a bit missing you should have stated it in the description.

I'd probably take it back given they know where you live. You can tell them they can drop it off at a time thats convenient to you, and re - list it.

TheTeenageYears · 29/05/2022 00:54

It depends how it was advertised. If it's a standard part and you didn't state it was missing then I think you are in the wrong. If this was on ebay and someone lodged a dispute you would lose. The low price doesn't negate the need for all parts, you state that a part is missing hence price.

Redouble · 29/05/2022 07:28

If you described it as having everything included, then you are definitely being unreasonable. She doesn't sound like a CF, her questions seemed normal!

Either offer a refund, or reimburse her the cost of the missing piece. Ask which she'd prefer. And apologise!

coffeecupsandfairylights · 29/05/2022 07:33

You can't advertise something as "having everything included" and then sell something that doesn't actually include everything - it's false advertising and just plain cheeky.

Her husband was probably just told to go and collect the pram - it would only have been when she saw it herself that she realised a part was missing.

IME you either take it back and give her a refund, or buy the missing part on eBay and give it to her.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 29/05/2022 07:37

I think if it’s a fundamental part you should either buy a replacement and give it to her or refund the cost to replace it.

LuaDipa · 29/05/2022 07:39

She’s paid £100 for what I expect was over £1000 of kit. Mine cost £800 many years ago and I got £400 back for it. She’s got herself an absolute bargain and I’m sure can manage to buy herself a replacement bumper bar. The spare hood and foot muff likely cost more than the bit she’s complaining about. Or if she wants perfect and a guarantee, buy brand new like op did.

The only caveat here is if they paid via PayPal. If so, eBay will side with them. If she paid cash just block and ignore.

TulipCat · 29/05/2022 07:40

It depends how you described it. Personally I think the bumper bar is a fundamental part of a bugaboo, and if it was missing you should have stated that. And if you described it as "everything included" I would definitely assume it was there. That said, she has still got a bargain so if I were your buyer I'd just get a replacement off eBay. It's one of those situations where a more accurate description would have saved both parties a lot of hassle.

Barkingmadhouse · 29/05/2022 08:04

If you have sold it as "everything there" and failed to mention the bar (which i think is quite a major part of the pram) is missing then YABU

girlmom21 · 29/05/2022 08:26

I think you should offer to buy the bumper bar.

Skyeheather · 29/05/2022 08:51

You should have said in your listing that the bumper bar was missing. I always mention any damage, missing parts, sun fading etc.

How much would it cost her to buy a new one from the manufacturers website? A genuine one, not a cheap copy from China? £10.00 I would send her the link, £30.00 I can see why she would be pissed off.

She should have come herself to inspect though, I wouldn't trust DP to notice anything wrong with a second hand pram!

Darkstar4855 · 29/05/2022 08:54

Normally I would say sold as seen so no refunds.

However if you said everything was included when a key part was missing then you have essentially been dishonest and should let her return it.
