Posting to try and take our minds off bad things for a moment
I'm in my fifties someone on here posted about a "Party wall" a few weeks ago, I laughed because I thought they were mistaken, I have always thought the word for a wall between two properties was "Parting wall"
How did I not know ??
Also over the years when I've watched, usually men taking off the tops of beer bottles with their hands on US programmes.
I may or most definitely may have tried to do this myself not realising they have twisty tops in the US.
You ?

Escarpahell · 27/05/2022 18:16

I always thought the motoring guy on TV had a weird name - Tiffney Dell...

tolerable · 27/05/2022 18:27

I believed -(didnt question it)that i got blonde hair because i was born in a different hospital from both sisters(who have dark hair).
the channel tunnel thing-just blew my mind!!!!!!!! wow!

ChristineCagney11 · 27/05/2022 18:31

@tolerable
Don't worry I think we need a support group here now for the channel tunnel thing 😳

Are all the people who thought the channel tunnel went through the sea quite young? It was huge on TV when the two tunnels met in the middle and they shook hands

@ineedsun
No definitely not young
I remember the footage why would that prove they were completely underground?

Genuinely shocked that people thought the channel tunnel went through water. They dug it out, if it was through water what would it they dig.

ChristineCagney11 · 27/05/2022 18:38

Stupid maybe but I'm definitely not young😎

When I was 45 my father told me that if you pee in a swimming pool, the water around you will turn blue. This is due to the chemical reaction of the urine's nitrogen and ammonia reacting with the chlorine.

When I was 45 I was talking about swimming with some friends and someone expressed worry about pee in the pool. I assured her no, you always know if someone has peed because you'll see the water turn blue around them.

Four decades. Well done Dad.

I still thought this until I read your reply! 😶

balalake · 27/05/2022 18:39

For many years I thought that Psalm 23 referred to 'in Partridge Green he leadeth me'.

It's a village in Sussex.

MrsRinaDecker · 27/05/2022 18:40

I thought for several years that Masterchef was present by “Jonty Rhodes” (actually John Torode).
I may also, like the pp, have been somewhat confused about how chicks are conceived 😳 and thought the rooster did something vaguely rude in the vicinity of the eggs.
Oh.. and of course hyperbole rhymes with super bowl!

JudgementalRaccoon · 27/05/2022 18:41

@SpiderVersed
I’m definitely not your brother 😂
I’m from Liverpool - maybe it’s a Scouse thing?!

I could never get the line before David Bowie's "Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow". It sounded like Merrycast Orchard Brow....a small independent Somerset cider producer.

I used to think that "Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow" meant that Mickey had grown up inside a cow, possibly up the cow's bottom, which seemed very upsetting.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I remember that moment when they broke through.

As a teen I may have thought for a while that there was an actor called Rayley Otter (RIP)

Because they wouldn't be digging a tunnel through water?

CupidStunt22 · 27/05/2022 16:12

Of course not! How could it?

There are tunnels like that though, but not the Channel Tunnel. The Medway Tunnel in Kent and one in Conwy are “immersed tube tunnels”.

DysmalRadius · 27/05/2022 18:50

ChristineCagney11 · 27/05/2022 18:06

@Sarah13xx
Think people do sometimes say giraffe instead of draft or joke

In 'You're having a giraffe' the giraffe is cockney rhyming slang for 'laugh' .

I genuinely used to think (up until quite recently in fact) that stool softener was something that softened the wood on old fashioned stools making it more comfortable to sit down on…😬🤣

SpiderVersed · 27/05/2022 18:55

@JudgementalRaccoon - it has to be a Scouse thing! My nan taught the words to my mum, and my nan was from Everton.

used to imagine an amazingly designed sofa

This is just the best!

I’m in my sixties.

For most of my life I thought the Musketeer D’Artagnan was “Dartanian.”

I thought D’Artagnan was Armenian. 🙄
