I’ve seen other people doing this sort of thread so thought I’d give it a go in case anyone was interested or had any questions about Irish dancing or dancing in general!😁

Is hypermobility for or against you in Irish dancing? I have hypermobile ankles and knees and whilst it keeps your joints young in some ways, I can't imagine my ankles coping with being up on my toes and being safe to land jumps.

I did some Irish dancing as a child (I'm Irish so we joined the local to us dance school) , even managed to win a silver medal but never wore make up, wigs or the really expensive dresses! I'm one of 4 girls so my parents would have been broke! I have to say I do like the dresses but the wigs and fake tan not so much. Do you think the fake tans etc. might disappear with the cost of living rising so much?

Dunnes often put out a child size Irish dancing dress in green around Paddy’s Day.

Why?

Presumably so people can buy it? Generic dancing dress far cheaper than any of the bespoke dresses . Snapped up where I am.

Irish living in Ireland and I would not send my daughter to Irish dancing, while I’m patriotic I find the hair/makeup/expensive dresses ridiculous. I think it’s been ruined, the girls look ridiculous and it takes away from their talent.

Not sure if this link works but it was refreshing to see Riverdance in casual clothing, hoping this will filter down to the dancing schools.
