Ok, please talk to me about..... bath towels.

Where do you store them, how do you rotate?
I don't have an airing cupboard, so you use a towel, where do you put it? It needs to dry, where do you store it? Where are your towels kept? Where do you get a fresh towel from?

I have spent waaaay too much time thinking about this so please let me know your towel routine!

Two sets of towels comprising one each for each person in the family. Clean set stores with sheets in a chest of drawers on the landing. In-use towels folded on the towel radiator in the bathroom. Washed weekly when we swap the set.

IKEA do a good metal shelving unit. It’s extending so can fit you’re own space. Thinks it’s Grundtal.

I got rid of Bath towels for this reason. We have towelling bathrobes on the back of bedroom doors with our hair towels. Hand towels are on the towel rail in the bathroom or rolled up under the sink with face flannels.

We hang ours over the banister to dry, then on hook on bathroom door when they're dry. Clean towels are folded in airing cupboard.

Courante · 26/05/2022 07:34

In the ensuite - on two hooks on the back of the door (heated towel rail too small for towels - that just has the hand towel and the shower mat on).
In the main bathroom - on heated towel rail technically but in reality on a hook in DS room (he is the only one who uses that bathroom). Spare towels are kept in the bottom of DS's wardrobe and in the main bedroom in a cupboard.
Previously had towels in a set of drawers and then in a housekeepers' cupboard in the spare bedroom (also no airing cupboard) - until I decided that was a waste of space and adopted the current system which work better.

Cupboard in each bathroom. Towels for that bathroom in there. One hand, one bath towel, one bath mat. Have enough for one in use and one spare. (We all share.) Towels in use on radiator / towel rail

I started a thread on this very topic a few weeks ago too

Towel storage with no airing cupboard? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/housekeeping/4544440-towel-storage-with-no-airing-cupboard

I’ve got a thing about towels. I like them a lot 😂

I have white hotel style towels and a lot of them in big baskets in the bathroom/en-suites folded and piled in a way that only I can do right. Both my husband and I have two showers/baths per day. He uses the main bathroom and prefers to hang his big fuck off bath sheets on the floordrobe despite having a full height heated towel rail. He then likes to use another big fuck off bath sheet as the other one is still damp on the floor. Ideally he likes three on the go all in heaps on the floor or thrown across the bath until I look in his bathroom and shout. He also quite likes leaving wet towels on the bed. He does an exercise routine with weights in his home office so also likes to collect some sweaty stinky towels on the sofa in there that the dog likes to lie on.

I use a hand towel twice so a fresh one every day. Dried inbetween morning and evening shower on heated towel rail. I wash my hair most days but will use a bath towel 2 or 3 times before washing.

All dirty towels get stored in big ikea bag in hall cupboard. When it’s full my husband drops off at laundrette and they come back all clean and fluffy. A pile of clean white towels gives me some sort of satisfaction.

In the summer I sometimes wash them myself and dry on the line. I even like looking at them drying on the line. I don’t know if I’ve said. I love towels.

My bestie has a couple bath sheets that the whole family use and no hand towels. It’s not been the first time I’ve went to dry my hands on the family towel complete with skid marks!

I also like tea towels and have about 2 dozen all ironed and use fresh ones every day. My friend has about 2 frayed things that transport germs about her kitchen! She thinks I’m weird and I think her towel/tea towel thing is gross! Each to their own x

I switched to linen towels for the summer. They are very lightweight, easy to wash and dry with the rest of the washing so less energy use and take less space to store. I will probably want a fluffy towel in winter but will see how it goes.

Bathroom radiator is one of those towel rack ones, mine and DHs towel go on that and DCs towels on the radiator just outside the bathroom. Washed as needed (much to DMs horror we don't wash after every use!).

Towels not in use used to be in the drawers under the spare bed but that went when dc2 got his own room so now they're stored in a couple of places because my house has almost no storage space.
