Who would punish him?!

The council where I lived before put a sticker on the bin threatening to issue a fine for a further offence.

Iwantthissobad · 21/05/2022 23:29

I honestly didn’t think it would bother so many people.

when I lived alone before I had a family it wouldn’t have bothered me if a neighbour used my bin after I’d finished. I couldn’t get wound up about it.

Oh, right. Here the wheelie bins just get winched straight onto the lorry, there's no way contraband could be traced back to an individual address.

onemorerose · 21/05/2022 23:30

My god can people seriously get worked up about putting rubbish in a bin that’s about to be emptied by the council? Use the bin correctly of course but aside from that who actually cares?

Now you know, are you going to ask your neighbour first?

Iwantthissobad · 21/05/2022 23:31

@PurpleDaisies probably not. He’s a nice man, not the type to get bothered over it.

OP posts:
Johnnysgirl · 21/05/2022 23:32

How would he even know?

Discovereads · 21/05/2022 23:35

YABU that sort of sneaky bin invasion leads to total bin wars.

BashfulClam · 21/05/2022 23:40

I had a CF neighbour with form for this. One collection day the lorry didn’t come until teatime and my kitchen bin was full so I took it out only to find my bin overflowing with her rubbish. I took her bag out and threw it into her garden so I could get my rubbish into my bin. It was a new build so I had bought my bins which made me annoyed too. She used her bins like the local tip despite both of them having cars and two sons with their own businesses who visited regularly and had vans. She had overfilled her bin once and stuck pillows on top of the closed lid of mine while it was waiting for collection. They won’t take it if there are items on top. I threw them over her fence onto her lit barbecue, she had other bin fuckery ways and I as glad to see the back of them.

If your neighbour wants to put out another bag just before collection he now can’t due to you filling it. Ask first!

RedSoloCup · 21/05/2022 23:40

I do this but I always ask, even though lovely single neighbour opposite says it's fine, just polite

Johnnysgirl · 21/05/2022 23:41

Wow Hmm

right, why did you make this thread then?

ButtockUp · 21/05/2022 23:44

It's rude.

ImustLearn2Cook · 21/05/2022 23:45

@Iwantthissobad If he is a nice man as you say, then why wouldn’t you be nice to him. It’s about being respectful. Go over there and ask, then say thank you if he says it is ok to use his bin. It’s called good manners.

OneTonNoodles · 21/05/2022 23:46

I do this all the time.

I wait until it's late - 12ish, and no-one will be going out to add more rubbish. Bin collectors come early morning. Neighbours haven't mentioned anything 🤷‍♀️

oioimatey · 21/05/2022 23:47

Write him a note, or request an extra bin from the council. Don't just put it in his bin, unless you want a MN thread about you.

Why did you creep around under the cover of darkness then? You know YABU.

@BashfulClam That had me in tears. Thank you, I needed that.

BashfulClam · 21/05/2022 23:57

@SpindleInTheWind i actually didn’t
mean to get them on the barbecue but my throw wasn’t great and her barbecue was next to her fence. She was a serious CF and I had to keep setting boundaries with her. She asked to borrow my gas box key as hers had her. Taken bc accidentally by the workmen fitting her smart meter. Then said ‘I’ll just keep this one and you can get another one, they are only a few quid.’ No offer to pay to replace it! Erm no I’ll need MINE back please.

Staffy1 · 22/05/2022 00:09

What you of bin is it? It’s a definite “no” if you are putting stinky food waste into it. If not, it’s still polite to ask first.

Staffy1 · 22/05/2022 00:10

what type of bin is it?

This 👏🏻

oviraptor21 · 22/05/2022 00:14

Yes you're a CF.
Maybe work on creating less rubbish or save your overflow for next week.

SilentBob · 22/05/2022 00:15

I genuinely wouldn't even know if you did this with my bin. I don't check it once I have put it out for collection. So for me, you can fill your boots (or my bin)- as long as it's not body parts or maggoty food, go right ahead.

Leeds2 · 22/05/2022 00:17

stepuporshutup · 21/05/2022 23:12

No do.not do it. You.may put something in his bin that is not allowed and he will be punished

How do you get punished if you put the wrong stuff in the wrong bin? I am genuinely interested! I always try to get it right, but would be aggrieved if I was punished/fined for getting it wrong occasionally!
