this is driving me mad i comb through 2-3 times a week and plat her long thick hair and put tea tree oil through, when i spoke to school they said although the know who has the bloody things they can not speak directly to parents all the can do is put out lettes each week and hope they get the hint . one friend who is dinner lady said you can literally see some kids heads alive with them. In the meantime we other parents keep on combing

best think is to use hedrin/conditioner and a nitty gritty comb (£10 or free on pescription) as this is the one comb that is good at getting the eggs and hatchlings out.

DD1 has had nits 3 times in the last 3 weeks. First 2 lots just before half term, got them all cleared up over half term then found 2 more in her head last night I've been using Full Marks Solution but i'm not entirely sure if it works though - have got one of the metal combs too which seem to be good.

It's so frustrating and I was mortified at the fact DD & I were at the hairdresser on Saturday and hairdresser must've noticed altough I didn't spot until yesterday !

DD like the bugs in her hair, they are her friends

what's the difference between a Bug Buster comb and a Nitty Gritty? We have the nitty gritty one but am interested to know if people have tried both and find one better than the other.

DD's school just had a massive epidemic two weeks ago. School policy is to send infested children home (they sent about 50 children home over two days), and they are not re-admitted until given a clean 'pass' by the school nurse.

DD's teacher suggested that all 'clear' students wear hats in school until we know the epidemic is over to avoid risk of re-infection.

have seen the nitty gritty comb-have ordered and picking up from chemist tom, its longer prongs than a standard one, but seems to be similar to the bug buster one. Its called 'nit free'. Meant to have fancy grooves to catch more, etc. Not sure as now I can spot babies, SO close to scalp using my nails. My 1st source was a pamphlet from www.chc.org/bugbusting then i trawled. I'm combing (or picking) out babies (i hope) now on ds2, but as I still have a few weeks to go, can anyone tell me what the double metal prong toothed comb does more than the single? mum here bought it with first letter, n never needed even when never knew what to look for. YEARS later - steep learning curve... should never have missed the haircut at christmas!

and mum has the blighters too! ds1 says do tripple angry and shock. I work in a school, THOUGHT always kept hair back, not sure source. still looking - its just so painkilling time taking! and i stilll see em moving 24+ hrs after removed by combing - so dont believe the rubbish that 'die in few hrs - no heat' ... ds1 still hasnt got them- thers hope
