I hugged Jeff!

I saw a former colleague by chance today. We had been chatting on Messenger about getting a lunch date together or an evening meet. Quite by chance we met outside work today when I was on the way in and he was on the way out (We work in different buildings). He hugged me, we have not seen each other in person since before lockdown.

"You shouldn't be doing that, you might get covid" - I was told by the receptionist. We are all absolutely petrified of getting near anyone. When we have a girls' night we always hugged at the end. Now nobody bothers. Everyone feels scared.

We've arranged a lunch meet in a few weeks and I was feeling really upbeat too!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 19/05/2022 19:51

People like your receptionist give me the rage.

When life hands you a Jeffrey, stroke the furry wall OP.

Ignore her, she's probably one of those idiots who wears a mask in the car when she is on her own! ha ha ha!

I had a meeting on Zoom yesterday with two other people. One of them was in an office on her own. Wearing a mask. On Zoom.

My first thought was Jeff from Coronation Street. But he's dead isn't he!
Receptionist needs to keep her beak out.

Society has indeed been changed.

There's still lots of normal people around though, you just need to find them. You'll know them when they don't jump away from you with mad starey eyes spraying their hands with bleach.

It doesn't do any good moomin.

You have to DRINK it. Did you learn nothing from the noble Trump's teachings?

I spotted one of these in the wild this week @ElenaSt !

Literally in the wild - I live up a remote mountain, there aren't enough humans around to be incubating anything in the acres of fresh air ...
She was driving - begloved, & fully masked.

Surprised me so much I had to ask the dog 'wtf?'about it.
He was unforthcoming, so it remains a mystery.

Oysterbabe · 20/05/2022 13:15

The reduction in the number of people that expect me to hug them is the best thing about the pandemic.

QOD · 20/05/2022 13:32

I have met a few people lately for the first time and not shaken hands ... I must be really old fashioned because it was still ormal to shake on first meet - and no one moved - we all kept distant.

Sad times - i love a cuddle too
