To think children should be allowed to run around and have fun in McDonalds

It’s a children’s restaurant so children should be allowed to have fun while they eat their meal. Nothing outrageous but things like crawling under our own table, playing a little chase around our table. Not in any way bothering other customers. Being a little loud. Just a bit of fun.

Isn’t there a playground for that?

SherlockTomes · 12/05/2022 13:39

No. Children shouldn't be running in any place where people or walking around with food and drinks on trays.

Noname1999 · 12/05/2022 13:39

Fun sure, but running around inside while people are carrying trays is asking for something to happen

Greensleeves · 12/05/2022 13:40

Having fun and being a bit loud - fine. If people want a more refined adult atmosphere they're in the wrong place.

Running around - no. There are hot drinks, other customers and all sorts of things that can go wrong. Keep them at your table.

Troublesometooth · 12/05/2022 13:40

Clearly a reverse.

Children should only run and crawl on the floor around indoors in soft play.

Velvian · 12/05/2022 13:40

Mcdonalds is bad enough as it is. YABU.
You say not bothering other customers, but I would be very bothered and my DC even more so. 😁

Your stance or 'just a little fun' isn't fun for others though. Running and playing chase around tables i wouldn't allow, no matter what restaurant.

Some McDonald's have designated play areas for this type of behaviour so if my children wanted to play chase, make noise and have fun, maybe head somewhere like that?

I don't think children should be running around tables playing chase in a restaurant though, McDonald's or not.

Hugasauras · 12/05/2022 13:40

If it wasn't bothering other customers and thus no one said anything then why would you make this thread? It sounds like it was bothering someone if you've felt the need to ask.

And no, I don't let DD play chase or run around inside somewhere where people are carrying food and drink. She eats her food and then we go into the playground if there's one or we go home. She's 3 and capable of sitting for 10-15 mins to eat a McDonalds.

TokyoSushi · 12/05/2022 13:41

Honestly, no. Having fun at the table, being a bit noisier than usual, maybe. But running around, no. Not everybody is there for that they of environment.

Appleblum · 12/05/2022 13:41

What. No way. Running around is for playgrounds.

Swifey40 · 12/05/2022 13:41

It is not a chikdrens restaurant, whatever one of those is, it is a fast food restaurant. My children do not run around the table wherever we are eating....home, McDonald's, a smart restaurant. It would never cross their minds. I would be pretty annoyed if I was sat next to you.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 12/05/2022 13:41

Will it still be fun if they bump into someone and end up with hot coffee all over them?

transformandriseup · 12/05/2022 13:41

No. Children shouldn't be running in any place where people or walking around with food and drinks on trays.

Agreed, definitely not running around. Climbing on seats, crawling under your own table within reason. I would call it a family restaurant but it's not a soft play centre either.

Swifey40 · 12/05/2022 13:41

'Childrens'

Pixiedust1234 · 12/05/2022 13:41

No.

For a start there are hot drinks around. But just no to any form of running or chasing. It never ends well.

Its a childrens restaurant because of the menu ie type of food and portion sizing, not because its a play area. Again. No.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 12/05/2022 13:41

It's not a children's restaurant. It's a fast food restaurant. Nobody expects them to sit in silence but no, they should not be running/climbing and should keep noise at a reasonable level.

LaMarschallin · 12/05/2022 13:42

What happened?
Did somebody ask you to keep your child/children quieter?

DappledShade · 12/05/2022 13:42

Yabu, firstly because people may have hot food and drinks which could be dangerous, secondly because the floors in these places are not usually especially clean, thirdly because there are other people there too.

RatherBeRiding · 12/05/2022 13:42

Running around while people are trying to eat in peace, carrying full trays of food and drink is irresponsible on the part of parents. McDonalds may be very attractive as an outlet to parents of young children, but it is NOT a children's restaurant. Even if it were - if your child had a full tray dropped over them because someone was bumped into by a running child I bet you'd be the first to complain.

underneathleaf · 12/05/2022 13:42

It's not a children's restaurant though is it? It's a fast food place. That's not the same thing at all - it's target customer isn't primary aged children particularly.

Deadringer · 12/05/2022 13:42

It isn't a children's restaurant, it's a child friendly restaurant. Being a bit loud is fine but running around isn't.

JollyWilloughby · 12/05/2022 13:42

It’s not a childrens restaurant, it’s just a fast food restaurant.

mintich · 12/05/2022 13:42

Definitely not!

Excited101 · 12/05/2022 13:42

Of course that’s not acceptable! 🤦‍♀️

GoldenPineapple88 · 12/05/2022 13:42

No, absolutely not. That's bad behaviour, regardless of age. In a restaurant (even a fast food one) children should be taught appropriate behaviour for the setting.
