To think children should be allowed to run around and have fun in McDonalds

It’s a children’s restaurant so children should be allowed to have fun while they eat their meal. Nothing outrageous but things like crawling under our own table, playing a little chase around our table. Not in any way bothering other customers. Being a little loud. Just a bit of fun.

Crawling under a table at McDonald's?! 🤮🤮🤮
No, children should not be running around in an area where people are eating food and walking around with orders on trays.

Furrbabymama87 · 12/05/2022 13:43

No. It's child friendly but it's not a children's restaurant. I don't like the idea of kids running around when people are trying to eat, it's annoying. It's often packed too, so could be dangerous with people carrying hot drinks. A bit of noise is OK, you don't go to Mcdonalds and expect it to be a fine dining experience, but they shouldn't be running around screaming.

TeenPlusCat · 12/05/2022 13:43

Crawling under your on table is OK though I wouldn't permit it myself.
Not running around or 'being a little loud' if that means shouting or screeching.
Think of them as 'training restaurants' for later places.

Plus they aren't a 'children's restaurant'. They're child friendly. There's a difference.

MaryShelley1818 · 12/05/2022 13:43

It should be common sense that you don't allow children to run around where people are carrying hot food and drinks.
Fun whilst sitting at the table is fine.

failing40s · 12/05/2022 13:44

Nope - don't care if it's MaccyDs or the Ritz - no running about in food places!! And definitely no crawling about on the floor - gross!

StarDolphins · 12/05/2022 13:44

I do t let my DD run round in maccies no, I see it as a fast food place rather than a kids restaurant- alothough usually full of kids!

we eat then leave as it’s usually on way/way back from a play centre/playground.

I also get irritated if people haven’t got their kids under a bit of control🤣

Hollygolightly86 · 12/05/2022 13:44

You wouldn’t like me then (not that I would go into a McDonalds) if we are out at a restaurant and kids are spoiling my enjoyment by running round and screaming and shouting I tell them off.

GeminiTwin · 12/05/2022 13:44

Also, it's not a 'childrens restaurant' whatever one of those is.

It's a kid friendly restaurant. Kids portions. Sometimes play areas etc.

Please don't be the one letting your kids run around with hot drinks and people walking around with food and drink, it's actually really irresponsible and unsafe.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 12/05/2022 13:44

Crawling under a table with dropped food and mud etc. Then eating with hands.

No thanks. And I'm usually relatively relxed by MN standards!

nearlyspringyay · 12/05/2022 13:44

No. Do you want hot coffee tipped on your kids head?

It's bad behaviour in any kind of eating establishment.

Antarcticant · 12/05/2022 13:45

Bit unhygienic for the DC to have them crawling on a floor where hundreds of random shoes have trod.

Plumbear2 · 12/05/2022 13:46

Its not a children's restaurant, it's used by people of all ages including my elderly parents who deserve to walk to a table with hot coffee in their hand without being tripped by your unruly kids.

JimmyNail · 12/05/2022 13:47

But it’s very hard to expect a 5 year old and 6 year old to stay sitting down. Especially in a children’s restaurant

OP posts:
AtomicBlondeRose · 12/05/2022 13:49

No, child-friendly means here:

  • Less need for "proper" table manners - can eat with fingers/wriggle around while eating/dip fries in milkshake etc
  • OK to fiddle with happy meal toys/balloons at the table
  • Might be a bit louder or more giddy than usual (but not to the point that it's noticable or annoying).
That's all. A slightly more casual/relaxed way of eating. Not a free-for-all!

If you don't parent them, that is probably true.

DappledShade · 12/05/2022 13:49

My dd can sit down fine at the table and knows it is expected. Don't they have to sit down at the table at home when eating?

tedgran · 12/05/2022 13:50

When my DC were small they could stay seated in a restaurant.

Don't be ridiculous. Of course it isn't.
And it is child friendly, not a 'children's restaurant'.

Sirzy · 12/05/2022 13:50

If they have been given the impression that crawling and running around is acceptable then it will be hard.

I am sure at school they manage to sit at the table to eat and the staff don’t let them all run around!

I can’t see this being true but if it is learn to control your children.

Well clearly if you're telling them it's fine they'll think it is fine to run around.

Do they manage to sit down at school in a children's class?

No it's not, my kids knew full well how to behave at 5 and 6.

Hmm if my 3 year old can manage it I fail to see why your 5/6 year olds can't. Also, as others have pointed out, McDonald's is not a Childress restaurant, it's a child friendly restaurant.

😆 seriously? This is the actual definition of your job, teach your children how to behave appropriately in different settings

grapewines · 12/05/2022 13:50

It's not a playground. At 5 and 6 they should have learned to stay in seats while they eat out.
