To complain to the gym about the volume of the music?

I’ve been going to a gym for around the past 5 months. I love loads of the classes but I’m having a problem that a few of my favourites are slowly getting louder and louder. It’s become pretty unbearable and even with earplugs in it’s pretty loud. I like the woman running it but AIBU to complain as it’s putting me off going

Definitely mention it. I used to go to a women only gym and they always had the radio on way too loud and a big notice by the speaker saying "do not adjust the radio". The speaker was in a corner and made that bit of the gym unusable due to the volume. I mentioned it several times but was always told that the owner wouldn't allow it to be turned down. I joined another gym!

I feel awkward saying anything as she is young and I am old.

Honestly do not feel awkward at all. We don't hear the music the same way up front so I never have any issues when clients mention the volume issues with either the music or microphone. And it's especially useful for young instructors only starting.

So why quote me? My first post makes it clear that she had already been spoken to. My point still stands: I've paid for a service - use of the gym - and if that's adversely impacted by the behaviour of 'some people' then yes, I will complain.

Because I was agreeing with you..

IME louder the better, drowns out the noise of the performance grunters but I do a lot of weights based classes.

Maybe there's a need to run quiet and loud classes.

I don’t mean to be facetious here but surely you don’t enjoy it when it physically hurts? I took my earplugs out for a minute whilst I adjusted myself last week and it was unbearable.
For reference, the vast majority of the classes are fine the issue is with two (particularly with one) instructor(s)
