Kim Kardashian WAS behind her sex tape release afterall

This one's a pondering post.

So apparently RayJ has now come forward to say that the rumours are true. Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner orchestrated the release of her sex tape with Vivid.

He's in the press today saying that about 5 years after they made these sex tapes, upon seeing how Paris Hilton used hers to boost her fame, they agreed to do the same and Kris Jenner worked with Vivid on a deal.

Now this has been an accepted understanding the whole time, but now that RayJ has publicly "confirmed" it what do people think?

Personally, I don't know what to make of it. Clearly Kim and Kris were seeking fame, and they've done very well for themselves off the back of it. Infact the whole family has. But was that the best way they could think of?

Do you reckon they just sought to exploit an opportunity that landed in their lap? Or planned the whole thing?

Having people pay to watch you having sex is basically the same as being a porn star right? So should we be judging her for what she did?

Or should we be applauding her for being exceptionally clever?

Or is it scary and creepy that these people were so desperate for fame that they've colluded to go about it this way? Especially Kris (her mother)?

Not a fan of the Kardashian's but leaking the tape seems to have paid off for them. They are all billionaires or millionaires so I doubt there's any regret. Each to their own I guess.

They are smart - so much porn out there but how many billionaires because of it? One sex tape and a whole family is now laughing all the way to the bank.

A woman and a man exercised bodily autonomy and made a sex tap to release for fame. Big deal she can do what she like with her body there is no issues with consent so what's the problem?

Is it really a surprise? Everyone already knew it was orchestrated for fame, just as they tried to distract from Khloe's DUI etc. It's all smoke and mirrors.

Apart from hearing the names I know nothing about these people and don’t want to. If everyone ignored them they wouldn’t be making money from sleaze.

I wouldn't call them clever. It was the only actual idea that would work that they could think of. That didn't involve actual hard work. And the mother does basically pimp out her family, they are just too naive to see it. Wouldn't call any of that clever.

The problem here is that we do invest time of our life watching them.

I don’t think you can find many examples, throughout history, of anyone accumulating huge wealth ethically.

I’d say in fact, comparatively, that a sex tape doesn’t even feature on the ethical violations scale.

The fact that they were able to use it as a vehicle to lasting fame, and wealth, speaks of smarts.

There have been plenty of sex tapes released, I can’t think of any others that have led to Kardashian levels of fame for the participants.

Is it clever though? Everyone knows sex sells it doesn’t take a fucking Mogul to work that one out. If anything it’s lazy, and yes, basically prostitution. But what else could get her famous? She’s as useless as a chocolate fire guard, has absolutely no real world talent or skills and is a pathetic excuse for a woman.

The entire family are grim, and I’m so fucking disappointed in Travis Barker sticking his dick in it.

The quicker people stop fawning over people like this the better.

Maybe with the older ones but the younger ones were absolutely groomed into it. The damage that's done to Kylie is etched all over her face. The poor girl bought herself a whole new face before she was even old enough to vote. I can imagine her life taking quite a sad trajectory to be honest. Too much, too soon.

While family disgusts me. I hate them. Sickening individuals I honestly find it is a reflection of how sad society has become to glorify people like this.

I’ve absolutely no idea whether Ray J got charged for what he did, or whether it’s even a criminal offence in that part of the world. ‘Revenge porn’ was only criminalised in the UK a relatively short time ago though, so I would guess not. I’m also assuming that they would have had to prove that he was the person who sold the footage if they wanted to sue him. Not easily done, but very easy to prove that the distributor didn’t have her consent to profit from her image.

It’s also worth noting that the CEO of the distribution company (who were sued by KK) says the family had no idea it was being released. I’ll repeat that I’m not a fan of the family. I just don’t agree that Ray J’s claims can be trusted any more than those of the Kardashian family. He doesn’t have the moral high ground and isn’t any more believable than they are. I think there’s some internalised misogyny going on here.

It's probably more likely that Kim admitted to a sex tape and wanted to release it for fame and kris said OK but if you're doing this then we need to do it right to make the most money.I doubt kris was rubbing her hands together at the thought of her daughter shagging on screen.

I just find it mad that regardless of who leaked what, a grainy sex tape of two not particularly interesting people has managed to launch the hugely profitable careers of an entire family. They weren't broke to start with but Kris was clearly on a mission. Astounded that Kylie reached billionairedom, seemingly by putting her name to some lip liner kits!

The whole family is completely dysfunctional though and I imagine their therapy bills are quite high.

Generally only the way women make their money. We've celebrated the lack of morals/ ethics in men for centuries. Who have they hurt by doing what they've done for fame?

Only if you judge porn stars. Most are women who haven't got other choices and have decided that they won't stay bottom of the poverty heap.
As said, RayJ needs his five minutes of fame again, he's probably ran out of reality TV shows.

I've never understood 'celebrity' appeal, or the shows about their lives. But many do and those people come from all walks of life. The Kardashian's have cleverly played that world and won.

It's still not clever. They've made their wealth on sex and managing to manipulate other people into thinking that knowing about their lives is important. Kim has proven she isn't smart by trying to pass the baby bar exam to become a lawyer and failed it 3 times. If it hadnt been during covid and getting an extra chance she'd have been kicked out. And that's with all of her connections, all of her money etc. It's not like she has to clean her house, make dinner, look after her kids etc she has a lot of free time to study unlike many other students and still failed.

Calling any of them clever is an insult to anyone actually clever, and actually just reduces people's expectations of cleverness. They are average, and they were lucky. Nothing more.

The case starts on Monday I think. Supposedly that and the future video she was in are part of his evidence.

She lost the other case but is appealing.
