No, I'm not.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 28/04/2022 11:56

you need to wait 12 weeks from the positive test. Yes we are. Discussed it with my 10 year old (also had Covid recently ish) and she wants to reduce the risk of a positive test for our summer holiday.

WeDontShutUpAboutBruno · 28/04/2022 11:57

I let my older dc choose, they had it.

I took my little ones at the same time and they had theirs too.

Coldilox · 28/04/2022 11:58

Yep my 7 year old has already had his first jab.

My children are late teens, I gave them to choice and they said no. Step son is 11 and has been vaxxed (was a chat between him, his mum and DH).

Depends on the five year old surely?

KleineDracheKokosnuss · 28/04/2022 12:16

We have for the eldest as she needs it to go to summer camp abroad. Not sure yet on the youngest.

KleineDracheKokosnuss · 28/04/2022 12:17

Wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for the travel issue. I don’t see there’s any point to it for kids.

TurquoiseDress · 28/04/2022 12:17

Yes we are happily going to get the vaccine for DC1 who is 8

YouHaveYourFathersBreasts · 28/04/2022 12:19

My children have had 2 jabs each with no bother. One of them still caught covid later on but was fine. More crucially, someone in our household is vulnerable so the more of us who are fully vaxxed to protect them, the better.

nearlyspringyay · 28/04/2022 12:20

Mine are booked for Saturday but I'm wavering. They've had covid, twice. They were unwell. I'm thinking of holding off and seeing what happens in autumn if there are new variants etc and they change the vaccine.

I am not anti Vax, I'm triple vaccinated, and they have had all other vaccines and will continue to do so.

*weren't unwell

BettyOBarley · 28/04/2022 12:22

Mine are 8 + 5 and at this moment in time, no, we won't be. They've had covid twice with no symptoms.

jeaux90 · 28/04/2022 12:22

Yep done and dusted.

MedusasBadHairDay · 28/04/2022 12:22

Already done, mine were fine with it. Slightly sore arm the day after, but that's it. They've had all their other vaccines, can't see a good reason not to give them this one. They were both happy to get it too.

purpleboy · 28/04/2022 12:26

Yes had mine done, her choice, no side effects.
Glad now I'm reading about the cases of hepatitis is children.

DockOTheBay · 28/04/2022 12:27

Not for my 5 year old. She's had covid twice (presumed delta and omicron) and was fine both times. If more concerning variants emerge I would consider giving her the vaccine, but not yet.

Really don't want this to come across as antagonistic. But what made you decide to give your children the flu jab but not covid?

I read the the hepatitis outbreak is not likely to have been caused by an adenovirus, not coronavirus. Some sources suggesting that children are more susceptible to the adenovirus due to lockdown and not encountering normal childhood diseases.

Rory1234 · 28/04/2022 12:32

I was in two minds due to the (very small) risk of myocarditis but it appears the risk of myocarditis is higher from Covid than the vaccine.

Katesboy8 · 28/04/2022 12:34

No way in a million years. He had covid and had a headache and cough but was ok. I wasn't happy putting it in my own body but definitely won't do it to him!

GimmeUrCoffee · 28/04/2022 12:35

Depends on the child obviously if their risk from Covid is increased then I would, but for my own otherwise healthy young child I won't be. I've had mine and if they were a bit older I would but they are only very little and I don't see the benefit to them personally.

Iwonder08 · 28/04/2022 12:37

Not a chance. My child is my priority, they would get only the jabs beneficial for them, not to protect others.
