To be concerned about school trip

I've googled frantically but can't find guidelines for school residential trips.

My kid is meant to going on a school residential trip abroad for a week skiing, but there will be only one (female) teacher in the house with them in the evening. 8 girls between 12-16.

Surely that is a huge safeguarding concern?

Am I being unreasonable?

I'm guessing the girls are sharing rooms, so in the event of there being a problem in the night, the teacher will not usually be one-to-one; there will be the other occupant(s) of the room. 12-16 year olds are quite old enough to chaperone each other! You'd hope there's still enough trust in the world that if the teacher is alone with the child who is throwing up while her room-mate fetches a glass of water, she's not going to be castigated. I think if I was the lone female teacher, and there were something like that, I'd probably ring one of the male staff (guessing that there are more of them), so that they could come to the chalet as backup (they needn't be present in the room where the ill child is, just within earshot).

It is weird to only have one adult on a residential, as OP says for safeguarding (of the adult as well as the kids, in case of allegations) but also in case of emergency - if a child has to leave in an ambulance, do they go alone? Or do they all have to tag along?

It seems strange to me but I'm sure the school have done the appropriate risk assessment. Is it a large scale event where there will be other adults e.g. other school groups there, or site staff such as a PGL centre?

That isn't the case! The OP says there are staff members (suggesting at least three) on the trip, just one female staff member overnight in the girls' accommodation.
