You realise you haven’t seen certain usernames in a while…the ones who are usually on every thread with over 30 replies…and wonder where they are and if they’re ok!

I need to get out more 🤣

Speaking of wondering about posters I haven’t seen @worraliberty for a while - is she still about? She’s always pretty sensible

I've just tried an advanced search...
They've changed it with this update and now I don't understand how it works, but it doesn't seem very good now.

@Bitconfusedhmm
Me too!!😀

When you post on a zombie thread, and then see you posted on that same thread 8 years ago...

And your current response is very different from your original response!

Snog · 25/04/2022 08:34

When Cod finally comes back

iklboo · 25/04/2022 15:53

When most of your conversations start 'There was a thread on Mumsnet today...'

I definitely worry if I've not seen someone for a while. Especially after we lost CatThiefKeith.

Peppapigforlife · 25/04/2022 16:10

When you see news story titles pop up from trashy newspapers and you think 'İ already know that story'.

When you're googling answers for your toddler's long tantrums, and Mumsnet threads pop up that you've already commented on, the first time you couldn't take any more of the screaming.

Bitconfusedhmm · 25/04/2022 19:49

I totally relate to all these

and yes, the poster I wondered about has been mentioned here!

I had exactly the same thoughts about (I suspect) exactly the same poster.

I even searched to see how long it was since they'd been on!

I felt embarrassed to be concerned! (I don't think they are there under a new UN - they are always proud of not name changing plus they've a distinctive posting style.

Friends mention they are going to Centre Parcs for the first time & you automatically clench your buttocks.

MurmuratingStarling · 25/04/2022 20:07

There are some funny responses on here! Grin

As for the 'missing posters'... I suspect (but I could be wrong) that it's because a few of the old regular posters went to another site (the one that was trying to compete with mumsnet some 1.5 to 2 years ago,) and they made a huge song and a dance about how much better this other site was, and how mumsnet was just full of vipers, bitches, and witches.

This 'other' site seemed fab for 4 to 6 months, but went downhill very quickly, and got tedious and dull with sometimes only 4 or 5 people on the site some nights. So in late 2020, admin shut it down. It was open for about 10-11 months.

So the half a dozen or so old mumsnet users (who were quite well known on here but had become disillusioned with mumsnet for various reasons of their own,) couldn't really come back under their old name because they had berated mumsnet quite a lot.

I reckon they are definitely here under different names though. No-one ever leaves mumsnet. Grin Bluntness100 is very likely under a new name too. One particular poster sounds a lot like her when she posts. (I won't say which one obvs!) So I suspect (like the others) that she has never left.

WTF? Why did I post that twice? Confused

MurmuratingStarling · 25/04/2022 20:20

The posts were 10 minutes apart. How and why did I DO that? Confused Am I trippin? Confused

Qwill · 25/04/2022 20:21

When you make a salad and think, ‘is this massive enough’, whilst sprinkling over some completely out of date chicken that you roasted a month ago.

Nah. You aren’t tripping- I have seen this double posting several times this evening on various threads. New glitch I guess.

Baystard · 25/04/2022 20:24

When you have to check all threads that start "My SIL/neighbour/DIL/colleague [delete as appropriate] has done [something awful] AIBU?" to make sure it's not about me.

iloveredwine · 25/04/2022 20:42

When you see something exciting on the news and come on to see if anyone has started a thread about it

When you tell your husband he better change the bins otherwise you'll "LTB"

I'd be massively surprised if any of this was true. Said posters don't fit this profile at all. And I heard nothing at all about the 'other site' being better. Creative licence here Murmurating

I mean I guess more logical answers might be - just stopped posting or NCd, these seem unlikely too.
