Another Update on the Family Sex Show

From the Daily Mail.

How COULD this sex show for children get £40,000 of public cash? mol.im/a/10745003 via dailym.ai/android

Finally, confirmation as to who the "specialists in sex education" were. Words utterly fail me.

Are wrong

Moochio · 23/04/2022 08:03

Are the police aware of this?

Scianel · 23/04/2022 08:05

Don't click on threads that don't interest you. Certainly don't exhaust yourself on their behalf, maybe a nap?

picklemewalnuts · 23/04/2022 08:20

By all means, let's not clog up AIBU with campaigns against grooming and child abuse. Confused

iloveruby · 23/04/2022 08:28

So the school of sexuality was the Winner of the Pamela Sheridan Award 2018 for Innovation and Good Practice in RSE.
Makes you wonder what their criteria was?

Ownedbymycats · 23/04/2022 08:36

This conversation is so important. The sources of funding for this group need to be questioned as to why they thought it was ever suitable.
CEOP need to express their opinion.

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 23/04/2022 07:20

It hasn't been cancelled. They're still intending to perform it to a specially invited audience and still carping on about it on social media to try to hawk it to venues with less rigorous safeguarding standards.

This. There’s a letter (on Twitter) from the director of the theatre hosting the private showings that these are a test to see what is actually involved and to see what, if anything, can be changed to allow a rollout tour.
it is very naive to assume that this initial cancellation is final. I don’t think it’s VERY tin-foil-hat to conjecture that presenting an extremely grooming show might be a very good way to ‘burn off’ all the outrage and then quietly relaunch in a few months with something that <seems> comparatively anodyne but is objectively still far beyond previous boundaries.

beastlyslumber · 23/04/2022 08:47

It's grooming and sexual exploitation of children, and it's still going ahead, funded by public money.

If you don't care about that, fine. Read something else. Plenty of us do care, a lot.

AmbushedByCake1 · 23/04/2022 08:49

For the people objecting to this thread being posted; mumsnet has this amazing function called 'hide thread'.

OP thanks for posting. The more publicity this situation gets, the better IMO.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 23/04/2022 08:53

Thank you OP. It's the links to schools that so worrying. These individuals with their "School of Sex education" have set themselves up as experts in SRE for sex children. They set up this sex show for children, and doubled down when challenged insisting that the age inappropriate material is suitable for 5 year olds. They're the very definition of unsuitable when talking about sex to children.

Yet numerous schools, desperate for help with SRE, have paid them to advise.
We desperately need some oversight of all this as some of the most unsuitable adults in the world have been allowed to set up /work in organisations providing SRE to schools. There can't be enough publicity about what's happening.

Organictangerine · 23/04/2022 08:54

Inklingpot · 23/04/2022 07:07

It’s irritating enough when people misuse AIBU ‘for traffic’ for mundane crap but it’s getting really fucking annoying to see posters with a personal hobby horse keep using it to whip up outrage.

I don’t think you realise the time and effort other people have and are putting in to get this seedy show shut down and those responsible held to account. People have spent hours writing to agencies, contacting the media, giving interviews, alerting safeguarding authorities, keeping up the pressure. It’s important work and if you can’t be bothered to read about it just don’t click on the thread.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 23/04/2022 08:54

Gah - so many typos.
"It's the links to schools that are so worrying These individuals with their "School of Sex education" have set themselves up as experts in SRE for children" Blush

Thank you for that update. I appreciate it. Unlike the posters above, I feel we need as much sunlight as possible on this. I don't want taxpayers to fund a theatre production and associated website for families and schoolchildren involving full frontal nudity and explicit sexual content. I want to know it won't happen again. I want to know how it happened this time. I want assurance over the workshops these deluded young people are putting on in schools.

Agree!

NippyWoowoo · 23/04/2022 06:57

It's exhausting

Well... no, it hasn't been cancelled. They are having a few performances for 'invited guests'. Still spending tax payers money on shit that defies all safeguarding. The principles are still going into schools with all of the materials discussed across many threads.

If you find protecting children from being sexualised, groomed then you need to sit down with a strong cup of tea and have a long, long think about why that may be!

Meanwhile use the now easier to use than ever Hide Thread facility.

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 23/04/2022 08:57

Moochio · 23/04/2022 08:03

Are the police aware of this?

Yes. CEOPS have taken it to the relevant police, as far as I can gather from other threads and real life conversations.

TeamSukhareva · 23/04/2022 08:59

Are the schools "desperate" for help with RSE? Are they inviting the Sch ool of Se xua lity in? Or are they being told to make space in the timetable under the threat of being called transphobic if they refuse? Are there any school safeguarding officers or Personal Social and Health Teachers who can tell us how the organisation is being booked?

SamphirethePogoingStickerist · 23/04/2022 09:05

A bit of both I think. I have friends still teaching, some of whom find this kind of stuff liberating and others who are absolutely horrified. Those who embrace it tend to be very loud in denouncing those who voice any reservations!

Makes me very, very glad I left the profession.

Blone · 23/04/2022 09:08

Yeah to the PPs frothing about another thread, if you're still reading (you bet they are!) no likey , no clicky.

It's not compulsory to open and read and post on threads.

Thanks OP. A lot of us have interests in safeguarding children from this utter shit and a right to know where public money is being spent.

Tulip368 · 23/04/2022 09:12

Thanks for the update OP. I do think a light needs to be shone on how this show came about, was booked into theatres and received funding. I'm sad that boundaries around children are clearly no longer being respected by some people (and people with influence). Boundaries are essential for keeping children safe

Lhddujvf · 23/04/2022 09:20

Thank you for the update OP. Not only is this update warranted, it's also raising awareness.

Thisisit2022 · 23/04/2022 09:26

I don't want to sound trite by referring to Jimmy Savile or R Kelly but their activities also took place in plain sight and when you watch the timeline of events in the documentaries it's astounding, almost unbelievable that the world watched and did nothing. As soon as an inch is given on the age of consent then society has failed to safeguard our children.

The “nothing to see here move along” brigade are out and about I see!

theDudesmummy · 23/04/2022 09:47

My thread is the other (now very long) thread on this. Just popping on here for the benefit of those who have not read/don't want to read that one to just quickly recap a couple of points (1) The show is not completely cancelled (2) There is copious online material aimed at children and groomers still available from this organisation which is just as bad or worse and (3) Yes the police are aware, both via CEOP, and via people, including me, having contacted them directly.

Anyone who does not want to read these threads, that's perfectly fine, hide them or don't click on them. There are endless amounts of threads about subjects I have no interest in at all, or even actively wish not to think about, I just don't read them! Hey presto!

And yes, I do have a personal "hobby horse" about protecting children from sexual abuse. Others will have other hobbies. You do yours and I will do mine. I am not in your way.
