To think £80 is too much for a trip to a farm?

£80. For the farm up the road, about 15 mins drive from the school

£80! I'm sat here on a bed thinking about it.

'Snacks included but please bring packed lunch'

DS attends a special school so I suppose there will be hidden extra costs but even so. £80?!

That does seem excessive - I’d definitely expect lunch to be provided for that amount!!

RoseGoldEagle · 22/04/2022 17:51

Wow!! DD just went to a farm on a school trip and it was £4.50! That’s ridiculous!

LollyLol · 22/04/2022 17:51

blimey. They must be hiring special transportation and extra people to help on the trip?

Seafog · 22/04/2022 17:52

I'm pretty sure at that price you get to bring home a sheep

Got to be a typo surely? £8?

keeponpushinglove · 22/04/2022 17:53

*i wish they would explain why the cost is so much. It seems silly not to even say

The farm they're going to is free for DS if he's with a paying carer!

When I worked in a SS we were given access to the LAs mini buses during the day for trips out , we could book them when they weren’t being used for school runs. We used to go to all sorts of places, but obviously the outings were free. Are you sure they haven’t put an extra 0 on the cost?

AnathemaPulsifer · 22/04/2022 17:53

What kind of ratios do they need? Students have to pay for staff costs which could get quite pricey if they need a 1:1 ratio.

Hotcuppatea · 22/04/2022 17:54

Could it be a typo and they really mean £8? I can't see how they could charge that in a state school.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 22/04/2022 17:54

I would query that. It doesn't sound right at all, and if it is they need to explain why it costs so much.

keeponpushinglove · 22/04/2022 17:54

Few months ago they went to a zoo. About February time.

That was only £20 and they provided a packed lunch, but of course many declined that as many of the children have specialist diets etc

Ohmygoshyoudontsay · 22/04/2022 17:55

It's too much. If it must cost £80 then it isn't viable.

There was a framer up north selling orphaned lambs for a tenner. You could get a whole herd for a busload @ £80!

Wavygravy1 · 22/04/2022 17:57

It must be a typo?!

keeponpushinglove · 22/04/2022 17:57

The plot thickens. Just text a school mum about this. She's saying her letters says £12? What?

Why does mine say £80?!?!

OP posts:
MarmitesMyMate · 22/04/2022 18:09

I think typo.

keeponpushinglove · 22/04/2022 18:13

Someone else from the class GC has just said hers says £50... what on earth? 3 different typos?

Dancer47 · 22/04/2022 18:15

Why not ring them and ask them?

sonjadog · 22/04/2022 18:15

Something strange must have happened with the letters. I would phone the school and ask on Monday.

JurasicPerks · 22/04/2022 18:24

Could it be to do with the amount of staff required for each child?

MajesticElephant · 22/04/2022 18:27

Probably a mail merge error. I would clarified Monday but sounds like a technical glitch!

PriamFarrl · 22/04/2022 18:28

Sometimes my school offers some activities at a lower price to children who are entitled to pupil premium.
We worried about charging £7 for a trip the other day! £80 is madness.

Shardonneigghhh · 22/04/2022 18:35

It sounds like an error. Although if it is genuine I would be declining, and then just happen to turn up at the farm with my son on the same day..

Queenoftheashes · 22/04/2022 18:38

80 isn’t in your address somewhere is it?
